The process of debate offers profound and lasting benefits for individuals, for societies and for the global community as a whole. Keeping the same in head a Debate competition was held for the students of Class V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 11 December, 2015. The topic of the debate was Junk Food.

Winners of the debate were I Prize - Ridhima Chaudhary (V A), II Prize - Tanisha Malik (V E), III Prize - Sampreeti Rastogi (V B) and Special Prizes were won by Bhumi Sinha (V F), Tanish Chopra (V G), Dishant Goel (V D) and Utkarsh Pant (V D).
NASA Olympiad - (10 December 2015)
190 students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh from classes VI to X participated in preliminary round of NASA Olympiad which was held on 10 December, 2015. 25 students were selected for the Online National Level exam which was held on 17 February, 2016. Out of 25 students 10 students have got special prize as they are ranked below 50 at National Level. They are Khushboo (VI C), Nikhil Maurya (VI D), Ishan Sinha (VI D), Medha (VII G), Gaurika Gupta (VII H), Simran Vohra (VIII C), Vashita (VIII E), Manav Prabhakar (X C), Mankirat Singh (X B) and Mansi Marwah (X C).

Being abreast with the latest happenings across the globe is the need of the hour. Keeping the same in mind, G.K. Quiz was held in two rounds for classes IV and V. The final round was held on 20 November, 2015. All the students participated in the Preliminary Round and two top scorers from each house were selected for the Final Round. The students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Prizes were given away to the winning team.

English Poetry Recitation Competition - (1 October 2015)

Public School, Meera Bagh had an English Poetry Recitation Competition on 1 October, 2015. A total of 28 students, 14 from each class (III, IV) participated in the competition. The theme for Class III was ‘Humour’ and for Class IV was ‘Nature’.

In Class III : I Prize – Parnika (III C), II Prize – Anurag Madan (III E), III Prize – Raunak Verma (III E) and Special Prizes were won by Riya Chopra (III F), Raaghav Kapoor (III B) and Staleen (III G).

In Class IV : I Prize – Neha Mongia (IV A), II Prize – Aastha Sukhija (IV B), III Prize – Suhani Bajaj (IV C) and Special Prizes were won by Manan Aggarwal (IV A), Naitik Aggarwal (IV C) and Kashish Seth (IV F).
Zonal Orchestra Competition - (September 2015)

Public School, Meera Bagh on 30 September, 2015 for classes I to VIII. Students made beautiful under water scenes with shells, mermaids, scuba divers, submarines, under water animals and fish on the topic ‘The World Under the Sea’.

Public School, Meera Bagh. The students sang a variety of songs and were appreciated and applauded for the same.

In Class III - I Prize – Harshit Malhotra (III G), II Prize - Arshpreet Kaur (III G), III Prize – Soham Batra (III F) and Special Prize was won by Harman Singh Bhalla (III E), Anushka Dutta (III D), Deeshita Bahri (III A) and Prakriti Jaiswal (III C).

In Class IV - I Prize – Revti Arora (IV A) and Tanya Negi (IV E), II Prize – Dhruvika Manoj (IV A), III Prize – Yash Khanwani (IV D) and Special Prize was won by Sanchita Sharma (IV B), Palak Mahajan (IV E), Thia Marwah (IV G) and Mouli Saluja (IV B).
G.K. Quiz for Class I and II - (28 September 2015)

An Intra Class G.K. Quiz for classes I and II was held on 28 September, 2015 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Topics like nature, sports, famous personalities, monuments, leaders of India, rhymes, etc. were covered in various rounds. Children participated with great zeal and answered remarkably well. Prizes were awarded to the first and second position winners.

Hindi Solo Singing Competition for Class V - (24 September 2015)

Twenty four students participated and the participants were judged on the basis of their voice, melody, rhythm and presentation. The students performed extremely well and sang melodious songs.

Public School, Meera Bagh on 22 September, 2015. The theme was Mother. The judges appreciated the confidence of the little ones.

The various aspects of Art of Recitation like expression, voice modulation, pronunciation, proper intonation were well displayed by the children.



The winners were -

III Prize : Mansha (I E) and the

Bharat Ke Lok Rang - (19 September 2015)
SMS Sr., Meera Bagh - Bharat Ke Lok Rang : Click to EnlargeSMS Sr., Meera Bagh - Bharat Ke Lok Rang : Click to EnlargeBharat Ke Lok Rang’ - Folk Dance Competition for Class II of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh was held on 19 September, 2015. The students exhibited their dancing talents - swaying to rhythmic music, wearing specific costumes and extensive jewellery won the audience’s heart. The little dancers performed exuberant folk dances like bamboo dance, Kumaoni dance, garba and lavani passionately, filling the morning with the beaming smiles and joy. The judges marvelled at the ease and perfection, the students put up in the show.

The power packed ‘Bhangra dance’ by students of II A walked away with the First Prize. ‘Kalbeliya dance’ performed by the students of II B and ‘Sambalpuri dance’ of II F won the Runners Up Trophy.
Inter Class English Poetry Recitation Competition for Class V - (8 September 2015)

Public School, Meera Bagh. The theme for the competition was Peace and Harmony. The students were adjudged on the basis of memory, expression, clarity, pronunciation and voice modulation. It was a nice exposure for the students as they got a chance to appreciate great works of literature.

The winners were I Prize – Gurnoor (V C), II Prize – Mahir Verma (V A), III Prize – Bitabhay Biswas (V H) and Special Prize was won by Hiya Wadhwa (V B), Ridhima Choudhary (V A) and Ridhi Raswant (V H).

In the Inter Class Sanskrit Recitation Competition for classes VI to VIII held on 25 August, 2015 the winners in Class VI are I Prize – Kapish (VI B), II Prize – Nishka Olhyan (VI H), III Prize – Prerna Lochab (VI B) and Consolation Prize was won by Divyam Kapoor (VI A), Jatin Goel (VI A), Arushi Mathur (VI B) and Vidhur Narula (VI H).

In Class VII the winners are I Prize – Himanshu Joshi (VII E), II Prize – Sarthak Sahni (VII E), III Prize – Prashant Choudhary (VII E) and Consolation Prize was won by Ikshvaku Rastogi (VII C), Vrinda Midha (VII D) and Devangshi Bhattacharjee (VII E).

Public School, Meera Bagh. Various plays from different genres, comedy, adventure, plays adapted from classic, contemporary literature, etc. were presented before the audience. The young actors of class VI and VIII enthralled the parents as well as the judges with their magnificent performances. Some of the plays presented were ‘Heidi’, ‘Mother’s Day’, ‘All the World’s a Stage – Jahan Panah’, ‘Bank Robbery’, ‘Nobody Famous’, ‘The Mayor of Caster Bridge’ and ‘The Seven Cream Jugs’.

The awards for the Best Play was won by ‘All the World’s a Stage – Jahan Panah’ (Class VI) and ‘Nobody Famous’ (Class VIII).

The winners were :

Best Actor (Male) : Krish Minawala (VI H), Harji Singh Anand (VI G), Ishan Sinha (VI F) and Nischay Vij (VIII B).

Best Actor (Female) : Sonakshi Dey (VI A), Prithika Ghosh (VI D), Sakshi Bansal (VI H), Dhwani Dang (VI E), Priyanshi Goel (VI C), Sanah Malik (VIII C), Kashish Koul (VIII B), Divyanshi Arora (VIII E) and Prerna Rajput (VIII D).

Inter – Class Hindi Debate Competition - (10 August 2015)
We are the citizens of a country that is the birthplace of the fourth-most widely spoken language of the world - Hindi. While the nation prepares for the upcoming National Hindi Diwas, an Inter - Class Hindi Debate Competition was organized in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 10 August, 2015 for classes X and XI. The theme for the debate for class X was ‘Takniki shiksha vidyarthiyon ke liye sahayak’ while the theme for class XI was ‘Sanskaron ko apnana pichrapan hai’. The event was judged by Mr. Prahlad Singh, senior Hindi scholar and Mr. Anil Kumar. The competition aimed at developing love for the language amongst the students and secondly enhancing their speaking, interjecting and competitive skills.

The winners were :

Best Team : Gauri Dev (For) and Rashi Nehan (Against) (X A) ; Sanya Batra (For) and Sanchit Nanda (Against) (X G) Jai Prakash (For) and Shivangi Stuti (Against) (XI A) ; Paras Pruthi (For) and Sujata Mahajan (Against) (XI F).

Best Speaker : Shrey Malhotra (X C), Yashita Gupta (X F) and Shivam Khurana (XI E).

Best Interjector : Raghav Jhanwar (X D) and Mohit (XI A).

Consolation Prizes : Hitanshi Narang (X E), Lakshay Singh (X D), Anjali Labh (XI C) and Ameesha Mehta (XI C).
Inter-Class Hindi Recitation Competition - (10 August 2015)
Poetry is plucking at the heartstrings and making music with them. An Inter-Class Hindi Recitation Competition for classes VI-IX was organised on the 10 of August, 2015 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The competition was a treat for the judges as the participants recited some wonderful compositions on Patriotism (Class VI), Environment (Class VII), Burning Issues (Class VIII) and Humour (Class IX). The poems were recited with great voice modulation, confidence and precision. The judges for the event were Mr. T. P Singh (Retd. PGT), Mr. Sarvjeet Gandhi (SBV Janak Puri), Mr. Narpal Singh (GBSS School) and Mr. Sunil Kumar (GBSS School).

The winners in Class VI were : I Prize – Hardik Garg (VI E), II Prize - Udit Kumar (VI D), III Prize – Manmeet Singh (VI A) and Consolation Prizes were won by Sharanya Jayachandran (VI B), Tamanna Mohan (VI C) and
Kritika (VI A).

The winners in Class VII were : I Prize – Mehar Singh (VII H), II Prize – Sparsh Pahwa (VII A),
III Prize – Ronak Goyal (VII C) and Consolation Prizes were won by Sharan Vaid (VII D), Ishita Arora (VII E) and Aryan Ahuja (VII G).

The winners in Class VIII were : I Prize – Nitigaya Dutt (VIII C), II Prize – Kashish Kaul (VIII B) and Prerna Rajput (VIII D), III Prize – Khushi Jain (VIII B) and Consolation Prizes were won by Kashish Kumar (VIII A), Devanshi Sharma (VIII C) and Sneh Sharma (VIII D).

The winners in Class IX were : I Prize – Aman Vohra (IX F) and Harshneet Kaur Kang (IX G), II Prize – Achyut

An Inter Class English Play Competition - (27 July 2015)

Public School, Meera Bagh. The event witnessed the portrayal of exceptional dramatic skills of the students. Various plays from different genres were presented before the audience. Some of the plays were ‘Who Died First’, ‘Lucy and a Ring a Ding a Ring’, ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘Pepper, the Phantom Pet’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’, ‘The Miracle Merchant’, ‘Ransom of Red Chief’ and ‘Charlotte’s Web’. Each play was thoroughly enjoyed and applauded.

The award for the best play was bagged by the students of V-F for the play ‘The Miracle Merchant’ and the Runner up award was won by V-C for the play ‘My Fair Lady’.

Public School, Meera Bagh. The participants were asked questions on a wide range of topics including politics, sports and entertainment focusing on activists such as Nelson Mandela, sports personalities like Mikael Phelps and celebrity entertainers like Oprah. It was an informative session for the participants as well as audience. The top position was bagged by the team comprising of Saatvik Bhatnagar (IX B), Achyut Jolly (IX G), Sonali Girotra (X B) and Hitanshi Narang (X E).
MS Paint Competition - (25 February 2015)
SMS Sr., Meera Bagh - MS Paint Competition : Click to EnlargeMS Paint Competition for Class III was held on 25 February, 2015 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Students were divided into 14 teams from all the sections of Class III. Each team had two students. Students were given topics for the competition “Beach Scene” or “Space Scene”.

The judges appreciated the work and effort of the little ones. English Paragraph Writing Competition - (13 February 2015)
An English Paragraph Writing Competition for classes III, IV and V was held in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 13 February, 2015. The children enthusiastically participated in it. The topics were Class III – ‘A funny dream’, Class IV – ‘Staying at friend’s place’ and Class V – ‘Why social service is important’. The students were judged on the basis of content, correct usage of grammar and spellings. This Paragraph Writing Competition made the students come out with their creative best.

Students of Class X and XI of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in Inter Class Play Competition on 24 December, 2014. While plays like ‘The Refund’ by Fritz Karinthy and ‘Rumours’ by Neil Simon left the audience falling off their seats with tears of laughter, ‘A Box of Oblivion’ by Stephan Bean and ‘A Dollar’ by David Pinski depicted the sheepish nature of modern society. Other plays that were staged were ‘Elizabeth’s Refusal’ by Jane Austen and ‘A Roadhouse to Arden’ by Philip Moeller. They young actors left the audience and the judges in awe with their performance and brought the stage to life. All in all, the actors stayed true to the beautiful art of Theatre!

The award for the Best Play was won by Rumours (Class X and XI).

Individual prizes were bagged by Paras Pruthi (X B), Dev Soni (XI D), Shivam Khurana (X F), Sachin Mondal (X E), Siddharth Dua (XI C) and Hardik Tara (XI C) for Best Actor (Male). Best Actor (Female) awards went to Sanya Kumra (XI D), Sanjana Chaudhary (XI E), Kaavya Anand (X E) and Maanushi Arora(XI A). Best Stage Presence awards were bagged by Kartika Kumar (XI B), Mayank Rawal (XI E), Bhoomika Singh (XI E), Shiva Narang (X D) and Mayank Anand (XI A).
Painting Competition - (11 December 2014)
Ten students from Class VIII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh participated in a Painting Competition organized by National Museum of Natural History to commemorate International Mountain Day - 2014 on 11 December, 2014. The competition was held at Indira Paryavarana Bhawan, Jor Bagh. There were 50 participants from different schools of Delhi and Varun Sethi (VIII-A) won second prize in the competition.

A Fairy Tale Fiesta was presented by Class II on 3 November, 2014 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh.

Three plays were presented - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Blue Bird and Holka Polka. The children were awarded for the performances in their respective plays. The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had an enriching experience.

Keeping this beautiful thought in mind, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh conducted Hindi Recitation Competition for students of Classes IV and V on 30 October 2014. Themes were provided to both the classes. Students of Class IV got “Desh Bhakti” whereas the theme for Class V was “HasyaVyang”. Two students from each section participated and recited beautiful poems on the given themes. Their confidence could be seen when they recited the chosen poems with strong emotions.

St. Mark’s Inter Class Tennis Tournament 2014 - (October 2014)
Team Tennis conducted their 2nd St. Mark’s Inter Class Tennis Tournament in the month of October, 2014. The students had a wonderful opportunity to participate in this week long competitions. The tournament at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh had more than 350 participants. Students of Classes I to III took part in the Aptitude Test (special skill based event) and Classes IV and V played Mini Tennis Rally event. The Winner, I and II Runner - Up of all the events were awarded with medals and certificates.

Psycholympiad - (14 October 2014)
Expressions India’ organized the first Psycholympiad held at the National Science Centre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 14 October, 2014.

8 students studying Psychology and Ms. Gesu Chandra P.G.T. Psychology of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh enthusiastically participated in this pioneering effort - the celebration of the mysteries of the human mind. The learning from this interactive programme has enthused and enriched their motivation towards a scientific study of psychology and human behaviours.

Inter House G.K. Quiz for Classes I and II was held on 30 September, 2014 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The children participated enthusiastically. The topics of the quiz were famous personalities, Fairy Tales, cartoon characters, animals, food, famous monuments, similies, etc.

Inter Class English Play Competition - (18 September 2014)
An Inter Class English Play Competition for Class V was held on 18 September, 2014 at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. It was a wonderful experience for the participants as well as the audience. The judges and the Principal encouraged the students and were impressed by their magnificent performances. Some of the plays presented were ‘Tasher Desh’, ‘You Can’t Take It With You’, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’, ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’, ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’, ‘The Dear Departed’ and ‘The Secret Garden’.

Inter Class Hindi Play Competition - (13 September 2014)
On the eve of Hindi Diwas i.e, 13 September, 2014 an Inter Class Hindi Play Competition for Class IV was held in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Eight plays were presented. Some of them were comic i.e, ‘Dhoortacharya Ka Aushdhalaya’ and ‘Samay Nahi Hai Mere Paas’, and some of them were thought provoking like‘Pankhudi’ and ‘Is Desh Ka Kya Hoga’. The efforts of the students were appreciated and applauded by the audience.

The award for the Best Play was won by Dhoortacharya Ka Aushdhalaya (IV A)

Solo Singing Competition for Class I - (10 September 2014)
The Solo Singing Competition for Class I was held on 10 September, 2014 in the Exhibition Hall of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The children mesmerized the audience with their melodious voices and foot tapping numbers. They sang with great confidence and enthusiasm. In addition to solo singing there were group performances by all the sections.

On 30 August, 2014, an Inter Class Play Competition for Class III was organised in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The competition was judged by Ms. Kavita Mehta and Ms. Tanuja Kant. It was a proud moment for the parents to watch their wards perform on the stage. The children acted with lot of confidence and enthusiasm. Some of the plays staged were ‘The Ants and the Grasshopper’, ‘12 Angry Pigs’, ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Dr. Know-It-All’, ‘The Pied Piper’, ‘The Elder brother in the jungle’ and ‘A Helping Hand from Malgudi Days’.

The award for the Best Play was won by ‘The Ants and the Grasshopper’ (III A).

An Inter-Class English Recitation Competition was held for Class II on 26 August, 2014 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The theme was - Animals. Two students per section participated in the competition. The students recited poems with great zeal and enthusiasm, expressions, voice modulation and good pronunciation.

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organized ‘Science Quest’ from 20 to 22 August 2014 which included a number of activities and competitions related to Science and Mathematics for classes VI to XII. The objective of the Quest was to spark curiosity in the minds of students about the various phenomena of Science and to expand the knowledge about the subject. Some of the events were ‘Science behind nature, One minute activity, Sudoku’, Debate, etc.

Science and Mathematics Exhibition which was held on 23 August, 2014 i.e, Saturday had models and exhibits prepared by over 200 students.

An eminent panel of judges comprising of Dr. Sagar (Delhi University), Dr. S. K. Jain (Delhi University), Dr. G. S. Tuteja (Deputy Dean, Delhi University), Dr. Manish Kumar (Delhi University) and Dr. Charu Kalra (Deen Dayal Upadhaya College, University of Delhi) judged the exhibits and models. The winners were awarded prizes and certificates.
Inter Class Solo Singing Competition - (20 August 2014)
An Inter Class Solo Singing Competition was held for classes II and III on 20 August, 2014 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. 14 students per class participated in the competition. The children sang beautifully with great enthusiasm.

The English Recitation Competition for classes IV and V was held on 20 August 2014 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The topic of recitation for class IV students was ‘Nature’ and the class V students recited poems on ‘Patriotism’. The students got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and participated enthusiastically. The competition was adjudged on four parameters: expression, clarity and pronunciation, memory and voice modulation. The judges appreciated the efforts of the students and their choice of poems.

To improve the skill of creative writing, an Inter Class Essay Writing Competition was organized for classes IX to XII in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The topics were ‘Can India be the next ‘Super Power’ (Classes IX and X) and ‘Globalisation - A Step to Peace' (Classes XI and XII).

An Inter Class Dance Competition was held on 2 August, 2014 at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh for classes IV and V. The theme for Class IV was ‘Fusion’ and for Class V it was ‘Festivals of India’. Each section presented excellent performances leaving the audience spell bound. Some of the dances presented by Class IV were Robo Lavani, Hip Hop Punjabi, Belly + MJ, Indian Folk + Bharatnatyam, etc. While Class V presented Patriotism, Shivratri, Janmashtami, Onam, Holi, etc.

The Guest of Honour for the event was Ms. Shanay Artemis Hubmann, The Deputy Trade Commissioner from the Austrian Embassy. Experienced dance teachers judged the students on the basis of their performance, costumes, authenticity and choreography. The Principal Ms. Anjali Aggarwal applauded the students and congratulated the winners.
