| An Inter Class Hindi Handwriting competition for Classes I to V and Hindi Spelling Competition for classes IV and V was held at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, on 1 May 2013. The competitions were held to promote good handwriting and efficiency in spellings. The children took part enthusiastically. Deserving students were awarded merit certificates. |

The competitions were held to promote good handwriting and efficiency in spellings. The children took part enthusiastically. Deserving students were awarded merit certificates. |
| The primary students of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, made a mark in their second level English Language Olympiad. Soumil Kapoor of Class I-D, has achieved many accolades. First Class Rank, First State Rank and Third Olympiad Rank. For his wonderful achievement he has been awarded with a trophy and Nokia mobile phone. The school has also been awarded with a performance trophy. |
Inter Class Folk Dance Competition for class V was held at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, wherein all the nine sections performed scintillating folk dances. The judges Ms. M. Pillai and Ms. R. Dutta, who are the experienced dance teachers judged the performances on the criteria of authenticity, choreography and presentations. The décor radiated an ethnic and folk flavor. The participants swayed the audience with their performances which emanated the fragrance of India’s diverse culture. The event started with an invocation to Goddess Durga, wherein the students performed Chhau Dance.
They were the ‘Navana’ dance of Bengal, ‘Thiruvathira Kali’ of Kerala, ‘Kalbeliya’ of Rajasthan, ‘Bamboo’ dance of Mizoram, ‘Bhangra’ of Punjab, ‘Lavani’ of Mahrasthra, ‘Bihu’ of Assam, ‘Garhwali’ of Uttaranchal and the ‘Dandhiya’ of Gujarat.
In the end, the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal, lauded the efforts of the students and congratulated the winners. The best dances were :
Class V-H : Bamboo Dance of Mizoram won the I Prize.
Class V-D : Dandiya Dance of Gujarat bagged the Runners Up. |
| Parth Bhala of class IV-G of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, appeared in ABACUS Genius Bug January Test Series organized by CIE enabling education. He successfully completed the junior level and secured 100% result. . |
| Two students of class XII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, Deepika Matange and Jyotsna Arora, participated in Article cum Poster Making Competition at Satyagraha Mandap, Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat on 23 April 2013. The theme of the competition was ‘The Future We Want’ which focused on exploitation of nature by mankind and growing consumerism. This in turn has resulted in promoting inequalities, widening the gaps between have’s and have not’s and exploitation of the marginalized. The students went through the exhibition ‘My life is my message – Gandhi’ before expressing their thoughts on canvas and print. |
On the evening of 20th April 2013, aspiring toppers of NASA Astronomy Olympiad gathered in a close and cozy environment at Hotel Lalit to be enlightened by one of the most important personality in Indian Education Mr. Vineet Joshi, Chairman CBSE who was the Chief Guest for the event, Special Invitee Mr. Pawan Sinha and not to forget Ms. Anjali Aggarwal, Chairperson St. Marc group of schools as one of the Guest of Honors.
The event commenced with an introduction to the Astronomy Olympiad followed by an instrumental performance by Silver String Band from US. Then there was an Award ceremony for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th. After the Award Ceremony there was a Workshop on Planetarium Education with a demo in a translucent Dome. The First rankers were awarded and felicitated by Mr. Vineet Joshi and at the end a sparkling performance by Silver String Band.
The Event was a hit and everything was organized in a very planned manner. Platforms like NAO should be encouraged in the school curriculum in order to motivate students. |
On 18 April 2013, St. Mark’s School, Meera Bagh hosted Sanskriti Utsav 2013,an inter school event, to commemorate World Heritage Day.
Around 30 schools from all over Delhi participated in it. There were several competitions such as History Comes Alive, A Talk on World Heritage Sites and Poster Making for the students. The competitions helped the students understand the importance of preserving & promoting the rich heritage that India is blessed with.
The event ended with a mega multi media quiz followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony for the winners.The prizes were given away by Dr. Navina Jafa, Heritage Consultant, SRDC (Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation) and CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). |
On 17 April 2013, St. Mark’s School, Meera Bagh celebrated Prakriti Utsav 2013. It was an inter school event to commemorate Earth Day.
Around 30 schools from all over Delhi participated in it. The students participated in a plethora of activities such as Know your Flora,Uncommon Birds and Animals. There was a poster making competition on the theme-The Angry Face of Earth.. Each year the school celebrates Prakriti Utsav to help the students understand the importance of the three Ps –Protect, Preserve & Promote Mother Earth.
A multi media quiz was also conducted for the students.The event culminated with the prize distribution ceremony with Ms. Amrita Choudhary, Environment Communication Executive, TetraPak India Private Ltd doing the honours.
The event also saw Ms. Karuna Singh, Country Coordinator, Earth Day Network visiting the school, watching the various competitions in progress and interacting with the students. |

The judges appreciated the performance of the students for the style, clarity and confidence with which they attempted.
It was an enriching experience for all participants.

AN AWARD AND PLEDGE CEREMONY WITH THE CHIEF MINISTER OF DELHI was organised by INTACH on 13 of February 2013.
Aryan Chawla, Grade 4, received the Special Mention Award in Painting Competition from the Chief Minister Ms. Sheila Dixit. Christina Sharon, Vice Head Girl, and 34 students from other schools of Delhi took the pledge along with the Chief Minister to honour and protect Delhi's Heritage. |

| The school ground of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, became abuzz with colours and excitement on 2 February 2013 when an Inter School Painting Competition “Budding Artists” was organized. 240 students from classes IV to XI gave a beautiful form to their creative expression using different mediums like water colour, acrylic, oil pastels. Students painted on various interesting topics like a market scene, nature, celebrating womanhood, mythological scenes, to name a few. The venue was decorated by replicas of paintings made by the celebrated painters of the world. Eminent painters Dr. B. S. Chauhan, Associate Prof. College of Arts, Mr. Jagmohan Bangani, Freelance Artist and Ms. Vandana Bist, an illustrator, creative writer, were the judges of the event. The highlight of the event was the paintings done by the eminent judges, the staff members of St. Mark’s School as well as the teachers of the participating schools. |

"Books are the carriers of civilization". Without books, history is silent, literature dumb, science crippled, thought and speculation at a standstill. They are engines of change, windows to the world, lighthouses.... erected in the sea of time." BARBARA TUCHMAN... The new year began on a positive note when approx. 25 schools all over Delhi participated in LEXICON-A LITERARY AND LANGUAGE EXTRAVAGANZA, an Inter School event organized by St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, from 18 to 23 January 2013.
More than 900 students participated in the event which was divided into 3 categories - primary, middle and seniors. The little ones captured everyone's attention by reciting the poems confidently while the students of Classes IV and V presented plays based on children's literature. Students of Class VI dramatized immortal fictional characters. Class VII students showcased their presence of mind and speaking skills in extempore. Students of Class XI participated in the Quiz on" William Shakespeare", while students of Class VIII had a Quiz on "Books and Authors".
The highest form of art, Theatre was once again celebrated as students of Class XI presented plays on the theme-A flight of fantasy! Debate and Poetry Enactment were enjoyed by the audience and the judges alike. The judges were eminent personalities from the world of literature, theatre and education. Ms. Vanita Zutshi, children’s writer, Ms. Ira Sehgal, Consultant, NIE, Ms. Vandana Tandon, Consultant, NIE, Ms. Garima Arya, theatre personality, Mr. Tariqh, theatre personality, Mr. Shekhar Murugan, theatre enthusiast from Yatrik Theatre group, Ms. Rita Roy Chowdhary, Consultant, HT, to name a few. The event culminated on 23 January 2013 with the prize distribution ceremony. Ms Anju Sehgal Gupta, Literature & Language Expert, School of Humanities, IGNOU and Ms. Sara Aulin, First Secretary, Cultural & Commercial Affairs, Embassy of Sweden, were the special guests of honour. | The primary students of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, appeared in Computers, Science, Maths, English and G. K. Silverzone Olympiads. These Olympiads enhanced the level of all the students beyond their regular studies, paving way for them to go international. The students enjoyed their success by qualifying the First level and most of them appeared for the second level Olympiads. |

Students who participated were Manan Jain (IX-F), Pritish Sethi (VIII-E) and Saksham Bhagat (VIII-E). Manan Jain (IX-F) stood as the top scorer in Delhi in the written phase. He will be required to go to Mumbai for Phase 3 which is Television round and will be telecast on CNBC Awaz and the winner will get the title ‘Mathemakid 2012’. |

Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in International Commerce Olympiad conducted by Commerce Teachers’ Association (CTA) on 30 November 2012. In class XI, Kashish Anand (XI-D) who scored 98.9% was the overall school topper and in class XII, Srishti Mittal (XII-D) was the topper with 88.4%. Merit Certificates were also given to students - Akshat Gupta (XI-D) 94.2%, Anshul Bhatia (XI-D) 92.3%, Simardeep Singh (XI-D) 89.6%. The participants got a good experience of giving a competitive exam. |
| Rukmini Devi Public School organized ‘Ganit Utsav’ a mathematical extravaganza on 30 November 2012 to celebrate Srinivasa Ramanujan’s 125th birth anniversary. 47 prestigious schools of Delhi participated in the event. | An Inter School English Debate Contest was held at S. S. Mota Singh School, Guru Harkrishan Nagar, on 21 November 2012, on the topic “Social Networking – Communication at its Best”. Out of 14 participating teams, the team of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, bagged the II prize. Anish Sharma (XII-F) spoke for the motion and Aakriti Kumar (XII-D) spoke against the motion. |
SAEINDIA - Northern Section organized SAENIS AWIM (A World in motion) Skimmer and Jet Toy Delhi NCR Regional Olympics on 17 November 2012 at Narsi Banquet Hall , Gurgaon. The following students under the guidance of Ms. Sudha Chand participated in Jet Toy category - Hershneet Kaur Kang (VI B), Kabir Singh Khurana (VI B), Akshit Gupta (VI E) and Mukund Bhalla (VI F). Their toy cars were tested for maximum distance covered, maximum time taken, speed and accuracy. They won the Best Accuracy Championship award.
Under the Skimmer category the following students under the guidance of Ms. Shimpi Kalsi participated in the Skimmer Challenge : Nitigaya Dutt (V D), Ishika Chauhan (V D), Siya Bajaj (V E) and Devanshi Sharma (V F). Their skimmers were tested for maximum distance covered , time, asthetics sense and overall sportsmanship. They won 2 awards - Best Asthetics Award and Overall Sportsmanship Award.
It was a great learning experience for the students as they had hands -on experience of fabricating and racing their toys.

| The Inter School Round of The Limca Book of Records Quiz , 2012, was held on November 7, 2012 at St. Thomas School. Six students from our school participated in the events which saw participation from over 100 schools of Delhi. It was an opportunity for the students to enrich their knowledge. |
To mark Ramanujan’s 125th birth anniversary, the students of classes VI to VIII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in Inter House Maths Quiz on 1 November 2012. Quiz consisted of eight interesting rounds to test the logic, concepts, accuracy and speed of the participants.

| 8 students from our school participated in the 4th Inter School Robotics Challenge, held at the Shri Ram School, Gurgaon on October 31, 2012. The students also participated in a Quiz on Robotics and won the third prize. |
| Roshni Khatri, XI-A and Sarthak Kathuria, XI-C of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in the International Youth Film Makers' Festival 2012. They made a movie on the theme, India: A Myriad of tradition, culture and art forms to be presented during the festival. The festival, organized by Expressions India, was a two day event. It was held on 30 October 2012 and 31 October 2012 in the National Science Center. On the first day of the festival, the screening of the movies made by the participating schools took place. The second day was extremely knowledgeable and enriching for the students as they got the opportunity to explore the world of media. Various dignitaries like Col. Raj Kapoor of Fauji fame, Sonal Kalra and experts from Doordarshan guided the students by sharing the experiences of their lives and conducting workshops. This provided a great platform for the children to showcase their works and hone their technical skills. |
Students of Classes III to XII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in Saviours 8th Environment Competition held on 31 October 2012. Saviours is a non funded NGO which works for the noble cause of eradication for environmental cancer. Students of St.Mark’s Meera Bagh have come out in flying colours showing their interest and concern on the environmental issues.

For the second consecutive year, the students of SMS, celebrated UN week, which was a week –long event to familiarize the students with the United Nations & its role in maintaining world peace and co-operation among different countries of the world. The event included activities such as card making, poster making, speeches, quiz etc. The event commenced with a wonderful display of speaking skills by the students of class VII in the competition ‘Know the UN’ wherein the students delivered marvelous speeches on the various organs of the UN. The students of class 5th beautifully portrayed their feelings for a peaceful world in the form of a greeting card. The students of class 6th worked together in teams of 3 and came out with beautiful collages about –‘World heritage sites’.
Ms. Rineeta Naik, UNIC, was very impressed with the efforts of the students. In addition to this, the judges appreciated the magnificent display of knowledge about specialized bodies of the UN by class VIII. The students of class IX participated in ‘Power point presentation’ showcasing their outstanding technological skills. The students of class XI were applauded for their fluency and expressive skills as they delivered famous speeches delivered in the UN general assembly. The event culminated with a multimedia quiz on UN for class X. The chief guest for the culmination ceremony was Mr. Ramesh Kumar Jalan from the United Nations Development Program, who encouraged the students by giving away the prizes. In a nutshell, it was indeed another arvelous endeavor by our school. |
On October 12, 2012, the final round of the Quiz on Italy was conducted. The jubiliant winners of the prelim round participated in the final event.
A sum total of six teams along with delegates from Italy as the audience experienced the informative, culturally and architecturally rich Italy.

| Appejay School, Pitampura, Delhi organized a literary week from 8 to 15 October, 2012 in which our students participated with great zeal. The events were - Literary Characters Come Alive, Quiz MO3, Debate, Becoming that Scientist and Hindi Speech. All the students displayed their talent with great passion. |

Eight scintillating folk dances from different states of India were performed which enthralled the audience. A delegation from Italy headed by Ms. Christina also attended the function. Educational Supervisor of the school apprised the audience about the Education System of India. In the end, Principal, Ms. Anjali Aggarwal congratulated the parents for having such talented children.

| They say that ‘Questioning’ is the best way to acquire knowledge. In order to make the students aware of the rich Cultural States of India, a quiz on one of the states namely West Bengal was held in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera bagh for classes VI, VII and VIII. The Quiz was conducted in all the sections simultaneously with the help of the smart class system on 8th October, 2012 in the zero period. Every class was divided into 4 groups (according to the houses- Gandhi, Nehru, Patel and Shastri). There were seven rounds, each round consisting of 4 questions with answer options. Attending the quizzing session everybody felt that they were enriched with regard to the history, geography, literature and the culture, of West Bengal. The winning house was given a thunderous round of applause. |

Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages of India and Sanskrit Poetry has always been the finest method to convey our thoughts in the best possible manner. To keep the interest alive in the language, Inter Class Sanskrit Recitation Competition was organized for the students of Class VI - VIII on 5th October 2012 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The students performed delightfully, resulting in a very hard hitting competition amid them.

| A Quiz on General Knowledge for students of classes I and II was conducted in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public school, Meera Bagh on 25th September, 2012. It was a written round and two children from each house were selected for the final round. The final round was held on 3rd October, 2012 which was an Inter-House Quiz. The children participated enthusiastically. In every round, there was a question for the audience too. So, everyone got the chance to participate and the winners were jubilant. |
| 20th Inter School Debate Competition for the Father Peter Memorial Rolling trophy was held at St. Fransis De Sales, Sr. Sec. School on 29 September 2012. The topic for the debate was “Vision 2020, A Dream Unattainable”. Anish Sharma of Class XII F spoke against the motion and won the third prize along with a certificate and Rs. 400 cash. |

A platform was given to the students of Class III of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, to showcase their talents through interclass Play competition held on September 7, 2012. All students performed splendidly and gave their best. It was a wonderful experience for the participants as well as the audience who witnessed it. The plays presented were ‘Beauty is Beast’, ‘The Demon and the Dancer’, ‘Chocolates in your dreams too’, ‘One Coin Short’, ‘I want another mother’, ‘Many Moons’ and ‘Silent Woody'.

| Students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in an inter-school quiz contest was conducted by LIC on 4th September 2012 on general awareness, about - insurance, insurance companies etc. |
Classes II and III of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, had their Solo-Singing Competition on 31 August, 2012. Parents of the participants were also invited. Participants sang beautifully and won the hearts of the parents watching them. The First Prize was won by Khushi Mishra of Class II-F. The second prize won by Aaron Rose of Class II-D. There was tie for the third prize – Shrishti D.P. of II-F and Bitabhya Biswas of II-H. There were four special prizes which went to Tarush Royal of II-B, Alex Rose- of II-E, Tanshi Gupta of II-A and Tushar Kakkar of II-H.
In Class III, the first prize went to Penlina Banerjee of III-A, second prize had a tie and went to Radhika Ahuja III-C and Madhur Sharma of III-D. The third prize was won by Jatin Sachdeva of III-E. There were three special prizes which went to Diya Sharma of III-A, Kanav Chopra of III-D and Harjit Singh Anand of III-F.
The competition was a great for the ears of everyone witnessing it. |
| A Fancy Dress Competition was held at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, for class I on 29 August 2012, as part of the English Curriculum Activity. Children came dressed up in various interesting characters like Mother Nature, Electricity, Popcorn, Chef, Clock, Spiderman etc. They were very excited and performed with great zeal and confidence. Children were given prizes and sweets to appreciate their efforts and to encourage them. |
St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School , Meera Bagh celebrated ‘Quest -2012’ Science and Mathematics Week from 22nd August to 25th August 2012. During quest various activities like ‘Know your Flora’, ‘Puzzling Fun’, ‘Sudoku’, Science Quiz, 'Maths Quiz' and ‘Sciencetoons’ were organized for the students of classes VI to XII. More than 200 students participated in these activities. ‘Science News - letter’, ‘One minute Activity’ and ‘Power Point presentation’, were the main highlights.
The week culminated with an exhibition on 25th August 2012 in which Maths and Science models were displayed by the students of classes V to XII. The efforts of the students were appreciated by the parents and the judges alike. |
On 14th August 2012, an Inter Class Art Contest was organized by Camlin Pvt. Ltd. for classes I to V of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Camlin Pvt.Ltd. distributed clutch pencils to the best 5 students with good handwriting in each section.
Hobby Club Activity was conducted for classes I to III who made beautifully Tri colour sandwiches. Classes IV and V made marrow cold salad with the Tri colour vegetables. Students of classes of I to VIII were also shown modules on smart board related to Independence Day, where classes IV and V had an Inter House Quiz Contest. Class I students came all in colourful patriotic dresses with our National Flag. They enjoyed the spirit of Independence Day. |
St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, organized an English Play Competition for classes VI and VIII on 18 August 2012. The students participated in the competition with full zeal and enthusiasm. Mr. Himanshu Mehta, Actor and theatre enthusiast and Ms. Silky Khanna from The Times of India group were the esteemed judges for the event.
Class VI presented “Mary Poppins”, “Before the Match” and “The Messenger – Joan of Arc” and class VIII presented the plays “Pride and prejudice”, “Great Expectations”, “Mr. Eccentric” and “Rumours”.

Inter Class English Recitation Competition was held on 27.7.2012 at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, for classes I & II. Various themes were taken up by different classes. Theatre brings out the innate personality of a child and also helps to develop confidence and take out the actor within. On 25.7.12 Inter Class Hindi Play Competition for class VII was organized at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The programme began with an offering to Lord Ganesha in the form of Ganesh Vandana. Four plays that were presented were “Baalak Chandragupta”, “Der aaye durust aaye”, “Operation cheeze chop” and “Mantra”.
The Best Play award went to “Operation cheese chop”.
The Prize for Best Actor Male and Female were bagged by Devansh Gulati (7B) and Urvi Goel (7C) respectively. Prizes for Best Dialogue Delivery were bagged by Keshav Nagpal (7F), Stuti Pandey (7F), Jasmeet S.Rekhi (7F), Shivam Makol (7C), Gauri Dev (7A). Pranav Sikka (7F), Dhanukh Bhatnagar (7G), Manav Prabhakar (7C) and Sameep Arora (7C) won the Special Prizes. |
“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything”. Inter school Solo singing competition for classes IV and V was organised on 20th July 2012. Each participant camp up with scintillating numbers and sang confidently. The parents of the participants were invited to witness them. The singers were highly appreciated by the parents as well as the judges. Our principal, Ms. Anjali Aggarwal addressed the parents and also encouraged the participants.
In Class IV, I prize was bagged by Bryan Rose (IV I) while II and III were won by Ayush Saini (IV F) and Shaunika Sareen (IV E) respectively. Nandita Sareen (IV A), Sparsh Pahwa (IV D), Vedansh Vij (IV C) and Japneet Kaur (IV F) won the special prizes.
In Class V, I prize was bagged by Sneh Bedi (V E) while II and III were won by Jatin Prakash (V A)and Pawan Naidu (V D) respectively. Abhinav Arora (V F), Inderjeet Singh (V B), Sachmeet Kalsi (V E), and Shreyanshi Sharma (V A) won the special prizes.

Never do the young need to be more introduced to the magic of theatre than in these times where they are bombarded by television, movies and media games, yet largely unaware of the beauty of movement and speech a few feet in front of them. Theatre has always been a major preoccupation in St. Mark’s School Meera Bagh and continues to remain so.
Students of St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School Meera Bagh made a sincere and successful attempt to stage “The Rehearsal” by the London based English Playwright Maurice Baring which is a hotchpotch rehearsal for Shakespeare’s famous tragedy ‘Macbeth’. After performing at the Zonal level in BACHPAN -2012 organized by Atelier Theatre group on 27 April 2012 alongwith eminent schools like Springdales, Pusa Road, Tagore International, Vasant Vihar, Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, and Shishu Bharti High School, Bhiwadi, Haryana, St. Mark’s School Meera Bagh made it to the TOP FIVE at the Children’s Theatre Festival and repeated their performance on 29 April 2012 at LTG Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi.
The participants were Ravit Malik (XII), Shruti Malhotra (XII), Shubhankar Jain (XII), Kritika Relan (XII), Aneesh Sharma (XII), Danish Girdhar (XII), Rohit Raman Banerjee (XI), Prateek Bajaj (XI), Navneet Arora (XI), Kashish Anand (XI), Tanya Singh (XI), Deepika Matange (XI) and Raghav Aggarwal ( X).

Sakshi Dagar of class XIE of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in an Elocution Competition on ‘Role of Women in strengthening India’s Democracy’, organized by Gandhi Smriti on 25 April 2012.
Students from over 80 leading schools participated in the competition which highlighted that elected women politicians remain scarce at all levels of political involvement while the Constitution emphasizes on Gender Equality. |

Models made of waste tetrapacks were demonstrated in the competition. The basic concept was to make Best out of waste. Apart from this they attended a talk by famous environment activist Robert Swan. He shared his experience to be in Antarctica. He told the students how garbage and waste materials can be disposed. Very important fact that he discussed was the size of ozone hole above Antarctica region. Students learnt how to be Environment Saviour. |
A proud moment for St. Mark’s School as it won the Panasonic KWN Best Video of the year Award.
The contest, held by Panasonic Ltd., aims to promote exchange and mutual understanding between children around the world through visual communication.
The students who were part of this global contest were: Lakshay Arora VIII-C, Aman Khatri VIII-B, Tejasva Kalra VIII-D, Aditya Singh IX-E, G. Vignesh IX-B, Madhur Handa X-E, Vishal Kalra X-A and Saurav Sharma X-A. They won the award for their movie-“Life is appreciation.”
The award was given on the basis of story development, creativity, clarity, technical strengths and overall presentation style. The jury comprised of Manish Sharma, MD, Consumer Product Division, Panasonic India, Yoshihiro Mike Kitadeya, Director, Kid Witness news Global Office, Panasonic Corp. and Naveen Chamoli, founding member, Planman Consulting Group.
The eight students and all the performing actors got a medal each along with a certificate while the school has been awarded with a digital camera.

To commemorate World Heritage day, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated Sanskriti Utsav 2012.
Around 25 schools from all over Delhi participated in the day long event. Students of class 5 participated in History Comes Alive Competition which saw the participants bringing alive the famous characters of Indian History. Whether Akbar or Ashoka, Chanakya or Rani Jhansi, Shivaji or Gandhiji... the competition was the most innovative way of learning about the famous historical characters of India. |

Students of class 8 made beautiful posters on the theme Heritage as the competition that they participated was Poster Making Competition. The esteemed panel of judges had a tough time deciding the winner as each poster paid tribute to the rich heritage of our country.
The culmination of the event was with a mega multimedia quiz for students of classes 9 and 10. Ms. Purnima Datt, Director, INTACH, Mr. Adrian D’Costa, GM, Network18, Ms. Shrinkhla Sahai, Sahapedia and Ms. Kanika Singh, Delhi Heritage Walks graced the event with their presence and gave away the prizes to the winners of the various competitions. |

Fancy Dress – Cosutumes of India for classes I & II was held on 12 April 2012 at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Children were dressed up in costumes from different states of India, which included different tribes and dance forms. The children participated enthusiastically. St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, celebrated Prakriti Utsav 2012 on the 19th of April 2012. This was to commemorate Earth Day which falls on 22nd April every year.
Prakriti Utsav saw around 25 schools from all over Delhi participating in the day long event. Students of class four participated in Know your Flora Competition and stunned the judges as well as the audience by their awareness about the various varieties of trees, shrubs, plants and bushes. |

Poetry Illustration competition saw students of Classes 9 and 10 writing a poem, creating illustrations for the poem and finally reciting it. Students showcased their ideas in the most creative manner.
The event culminated with the mega multimedia quiz on ecology. Dignitaries for the event Ms. Aarti Khosla, WWF, India and Ms. Maya Goburdhan, Navdanya gave away the prizes to the winners of the various activities. |
| Aakash Dua and Shristi Manocha, students of class XI of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in NIU Quiz Championship 2011 on 10 December 2011. This quiz was organized by Noida International University in association with Quizcraft Events and Communications. Quiz involved the participation of 250 schools from Delhi and NCR. Quiz was based on General Knowledge covering various fields like current affairs, Science and Technology and tested the all round ability of the participants. It was an exciting and competitive event and a learning experience for all the students. |
| As a part of Project – Search that involves recycling of Tetra packs, a frooti party was held for students of classes I to VIII of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Students after drinking Frooti learned to dispose off Tetra packs by following three important steps i.e. Cut, Clean and Collect. These tetra packs would be collected by DLF – Foundation and TERI for recycling. |

| Eight students of Robotics Club (Robomaina) of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in Robotics Competition organized at ‘The Sriram School’. It was a thrilling experience for the students as they had designed robots performing various tasks based on the problem statements. Designs made by the students were appreciated and it was a great learning experience for them. |
To celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the greatest source of inspiration for youth, Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, organized a Future Leader Discovery Contest for students of classes VI to XII. The competition, spread over eight months, consists of three phases. Around 1,62,800 students all over the country from 9000 schools undertook the initial online quiz.
Neelakshi Prabhakar, a student of class XII of St.Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, cracked the quiz and reached among the top 1000 candidates. The second round was a written round in which questionnaire had to be filled by the selected candidates. Neelakshi Prabhakar made it to the top 100 candidates for the final round of the contest. 52 students of VIII and IX of Inquisitive Club attended a workshop organized by ‘BMW’ to introduce the ‘BMW vision efficient dynamic concept car’ at their BMW studio at Connaught Place. It is a unique concept car demonstrating technology of future.

An interesting and informative session on ‘Stories and Poems on conflict and hope’ was organized by Habitat Children’s Book Forum on 9.4.2011, at India Habitat Centre. Famous children’s author Subhadra Sen Gupta’s gracious presence on the occasion was a source of great inspiration for the students.

The annual Ramakrishna Quiz Competition is a means to keep the teachings of Swamiji alive and encourage the youth to imbibe them and maintain his rich legacy of wisdom.
The following students of St.Mark’s Sr.Sec.Public School, Meera Bagh, won the final round of the competition and received cash awards by the Chief Guest of the event, Dr.Kiran Bedi (IPS), Social Activist.

2 students Shivangi Arora (VIIIA) and Tanya Gupta (VIIIB) of the Eco Club of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in Paryavaran Mitra Mela, in Ajmer, from 31 Jan. to 4 Feb.2011. They were accompanied by their teacher incharge Ms. M. Pathak. A host of guest lectures, activities, competitions like poster making for students and teachers, games and Nature walks, generated environmental awareness amongst the participating students and teachers alike.
These lectures were given by Dr. Madhu and Dr.K.K.Sharma who are avid bird watchers. Mr. Farhan Contractor gave an excellent presentation on how people of Rajasthan are doing Rain Water Harvesting by making Beris and Step Wells. All this has led to increase in the water table, thereby making agriculture possible in these areas, where women had to walk for 7-8 hours to just get a pitcher of water. |
| An Exhibition was also organized in which all participants of 13 states showed their projects and ideas. The stall which was set up by students of St. Mark’s School, Meera Bagh, was highly appreciated, with people really interested in the various ways to decompose waste and turn it into compost and the eco-friendly products made by the eco club members which were on display. |
The bird watching was a wonderful experience, when aquatic birds were shown in Ana Sagar Lake in front of RIE University (Regional Institute of Education). Students got the opportunity to see rare species of birds like Yellow Footed Green Pigeon, Drongo, Babbler, Stilt, Lapwing and Ducks like Mallard, Shovler, Egrets, Dabchick, Pintail, etc.
The Paryavaran Mitra Quiz was the central event of the entire programme in which St. Mark’s students outshined other schools and states. In the final round there were five finalists from the states of Delhi, Chandigarh, J&K, Chhattisgarh and Punjab. Students of St. Mark’s topped the quiz with the massive total of 115 points whereas the second position was bagged by students of Chattishgarh with 75 points. Kudos to the students for their excellent performance! |
 Parneet Singh and Radha Bhola of Class X-B displayed commendable Mathematical Skill and application when they qualified for the National Level Science Exhibition after displaying their Mathematics model on Thales Theorem at the State Level Jawahar Lal Nehru Science Exhibition held at Science Centre Vasant Vihar, New Delhi From 14-16 December 2010. Among the twenty models from various zones of Delhi Thales Theorem was rated among the Top Five best models eligible for the National Level Exhibition. They were guided by their Mathematics teacher Mrs. Lakshmi Srinivas. Principal Mrs. Anjali Aggarwal and VicePrinicipal Mrs. Veena Wahi congratulated the winners. |
