Career Counselling Workshop for Science Stream students of Classes 11 and 12 - (2 May 2024)

Career Counseling is a guided process where trained professional help individuals explore, plan and manage their careers. Students often face hardships in choosing the right career path due to endless career opportunities available to them. In such a situation career counseling helps them find the most suitable career option after analyzing their strength and interests. To guide science students about various career options, Mr. Ashish Goyal, Managing Director, Vidya Hub institute and Mr. Ajay Katiyar, Director Vidya Hub institute conducted a session for science students of Class XI and XII on 2nd May 2024. Students were explained about various career options other than engineering and medicine. Students inquired about admission procedure and future prospects of these courses. Session was informative and enriching for the students.

Retirement Readiness with National Pension System - (30 April 2024)

“Don't simply retire from something; have something to retire to.”

In order to raise awareness among teachers regarding retirement planning and underscore its significance in securing financial stability and well-being post-career, our faculty members participated in a workshop on ‘Retirement Benefits’ held at St. Mark's Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh. The workshop was tailored to enlighten attendees on the essentials of retirement planning, encompassing an understanding of various retirement options and their implications. Key topics included NPS (National Pension System), investment strategies, asset allocation, and retirement income planning. By delving into these subjects comprehensively, educators gained the requisite knowledge and tools to navigate the intricacies of retirement planning and establish a solid financial groundwork for their post-retirement years. All in all, the session was highly beneficial and enriching.

POCSO Parents 2024 - (27 April 2024)

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.”

We organised an educational workshop with a deep sense of purpose dedicated to raising awareness and understanding about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act POCSO.

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Raj Gaurav, a practising lawyer in the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court, a certified POCSO and POSH trainer and a petitioner in the Kaali poster and the Adipurush case.

His expertise helped us to understand the gravity of sexual offences against children and the importance of the safety measures to be taken for the well-being of our children.

It was an insightful experience for us to understand: “If you see something, do something!”

CBP Workshop on Active Learning - (17 February 2024)

On 17 February 2024, our school had the privilege of hosting a workshop organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) focussing on the implementation of active learning methodologies in classrooms. The workshop aimed to empower educators with innovative teaching techniques to foster student engagement and enhance learning outcomes.

The workshop commenced with an insightful keynote address by renowned educationists Ms. Sanjana Mittal, Deputy Director of Ashtavakra Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences and research and Ms. Seema Jerath, the Principal of DLF Public School, Sahibabad, highlighting the significance of active learning in contemporary education. Participants were introduced to various active learning strategies tailored to different subjects and grade levels.

The workshop featured interactive sessions where educators actively participated in hands-on activities, group discussions, and collaborative exercises. These sessions facilitated the exchange of ideas and best practices among teachers from different schools, enriching the learning experience.

The Key Topics covered in the workshop were understanding the principles of active learning, incorporating active learning strategies into lesson planning, utilizing technology to enhance active learning experiences, assessing student engagement and learning outcomes, overcoming challenges in implementing active learning in diverse classroom settings.

One of the highlights of the workshop was the practical demonstrations of active learning techniques conducted by experienced educators. These demonstrations provided participants with concrete examples of how to transform traditional lessons into dynamic, interactive learning experiences.

Participants were provided with a comprehensive toolkit comprising lesson plans, activity ideas, and online resources to support the integration of active learning in their classrooms. The resources were designed to cater to the diverse needs and learning styles of students across different grade levels.

In the closing session, participants expressed their appreciation for the valuable insights gained during the workshop. Many teachers expressed enthusiasm and confidence in implementing active learning strategies in their classrooms, anticipating positive impacts on student engagement and academic achievement.

The CBSE workshop on active learning served as a catalyst for pedagogical innovation and professional growth among educators. By embracing active learning methodologies, teachers are better equipped to create dynamic learning environments that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning among students. The workshop reaffirmed our commitment to excellence in education and our ongoing efforts to nurture holistic development among our students.

We extend our gratitude to CBSE for organizing this enriching workshop and look forward to further collaboration in advancing educational practices.

Workshop by Ms. Mariann from Hungarian Embassy - (8 February 2024)

With great pleasure, St. Mark’s World School conducted a workshop on 8th February, 2024 in collaboration with the Liszt Institute, Delhi, on the occasion of the 111th birth anniversary of the Hungarian-Indian artist, Amrita Sher-Gil. The workshop titled "Amrita Goes to School" aimed to educate school children about the life and works of Amrita Sher-Gil through a series of specially designed activities and presentations.

The primary objective of this workshop was to introduce school children to the legacy of Amrita Sher-Gil and the significance of her artistic achievements.

Through this workshop, the children not only gained knowledge about her but also developed an understanding of the creative process and the power of self-expression.

CUET Webinar - (4 February 2024)

Our school recently organized an informative workshop for Class 12 students that provided valuable insights into the CUET application process. The workshop was hosted by Edumentor, and its primary objective was to furnish students with comprehensive information, including eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and a step-by-step guide to complete the application form accurately. The workshop also emphasized the importance of aptitude tests and the universities that come under CUET. Additionally, students were introduced to strategies to prepare themselves for the admission process of their dream colleges and universities.

Capacity Building Programme on National Education Policy-2020 - (30 December 2023)

A One day Offline Capacity Building Programme on National Education Policy-2020 was organized at our school on 30th December 2023 by CBSE (Delhi West).

Through this workshop, around 60 educators from different schools of Delhi embarked on a collective endeavor to delve into the transformative principles outlined in the National Education Policy. This workshop served as a crucible for ideas, a forum for dialogue, and a catalyst for change. As all participating teachers endeavoured to unravel the nuances of this visionary policy, fostering a collaborative environment where knowledge and insights converge, they were guided by two extremely knowledgeable and experienced resource persons - Mr. George A Thomas and Ms. Aishwarya Taneja.

Mr. George A Thomas is an educator by choice, not by chance. He is currently the Principal of Esdee International School, Dungarpur which is a CSR Project of ESDEE PAINTS LTD. He is a Master Trainer for CBSE and has conducted 229 training sessions. Our second resource person for the day Ms. Aishwarya Taneja is a Senior Academic Coordinator, a Microsoft Educator Expert, Microsoft Office Specialist and a Master Teacher Trainer, at the national level with CBSE. She is also a resource person with NCERT, BOSSE and Microsoft.

The active participation of fellow educators at the venue was key to the success of this workshop wherein all engaged, shared, and inspired one another as they navigated the exciting terrain of the National Education Policy. The workshop ended on a cheerful notes as all participating teachers indulged in role play, answer a questionnaire and came together for a group photograph which made this enriching experience further memorable for all.

NCF-FS Workshop - (3 December 2023)

To ensure appropriate focus and fillip to the Foundational Stage (ages 3-8), the detailed National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCF-FS) was released on 20 October 2022 by the Hon'ble Minister of Education, which is integrated within the NCF-SE.

In sync with the same, our Educational Supervisor Ms Vandana Pandey along with Ms. Kanika Arora attended a workshop at N.K. Bagrodia Public School, Rohini on 30th November 2023. The workshop, conducted by Ms. Archana Narayan and Ms. Sonia Relia, aimed to empower teachers with a set of tools that will enable them to introduce time-sensitive and cost-effective activity-based practices that they can effectively put to use in the initial five years for children between 3-8 years of age, i.e., the foundational stages.

With the implementation of the National Educational Policy 2020 and the NCF 2022/23, Madhubun Educational Books took the onus of training and hand holding the partner schools and educators in thesmooth transition into the new system. They organised a workshop on “English Language Teaching“ by Dr. Vijaya on 2 December 2023 at Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka. Dr. Vijaya is an Assistant Professor of English at The English and Foreign Languages University, Lucknow.

The workshop was attended by the teachers of our school, Ms. Disha Vij and Ms. Neeru Monga. It was a valuable opportunity for them to delve deeper into effective teaching methodologies and strategies specifically tailored for the English language classroom.

The workshop was thoughtfully designed to cover various aspects of English language teaching, ranging from innovative lesson planning to fostering engaging classroom environments. Seasoned educators in the field of English language education attended the session, sharing their insights, experiences, and best practices.

The character of schools transcends mere infrastructure and curriculum; it is the essence that breathes life into education. It is the embodiment of values, the heartbeat of a nurturing environment, and the compass guiding both educators and students on the path of holistic development. Beyond imparting knowledge, a school's character shapes the very fabric of its community, fostering virtues, resilience, and a sense of purpose.

In an exploration of strategies to elevate the character of schools, transforming them into sanctuaries of wisdom and growth we uncovered the transformative power of education through a workshop for the school faculty on ‘The Character of Schools’. Our esteemed guest Dr. N. Mythili who has significantly contributed to the academic landscape, demonstrating expertise in candidate selection for the Ph.D. program at Mahindra University and a rich background in policy research, teaching, and implementing School Leadership Development Programmes (SLDP) nationwide through the Ministry of Education emphasized upon the profound dimensions of a school's character. She delved into the art of instilling values that extend beyond academic achievement and involves cultivating a culture of empathy, promoting inclusivity, and nurturing a spirit of curiosity. She reiterated that the character of schools becomes a canvas where diverse perspectives converge, fostering an atmosphere that not only educates but also inspires.

Capacity Building Workshop in Accountancy - (24 and 25 November 2023)

Elevating the pedagogical landscape, a two-day Capacity Building Accountancy Workshop orchestrated by CBSE unfolded at PP International School, Pitampura. Featuring distinguished speakers, Mr. Naresh Bharadwaj and Mr. J.N. Mehra, on November 24th and 25th, 2023, this event served as a beacon for the integration of avant-garde teaching technologies in the dynamic field of accountancy. The workshop, a crucible of innovation, sought to equip educators with a profound understanding of incorporating innovative tools for more effective pedagogy. In this transformative journey, Ms. Shivani Bhatia, our Accountancy faculty, graced the proceedings with her active and insightful participation, further enriching the collective wisdom shared during this enlightening event.

Basket Weaving Activity by students of Class 6 - (26 October 2023)

An Art and Craft Workshop on Basket Weaving was organized for Class VI Hindustan Times subscribers on 26 October 2023. The students actively participated and weaved colourful baskets made up of newspapers. They enthusiastically learned new art and craft skills and used their creativity to make the best out of the waste.

TOI Jewellery Designing Workshop - (19 October 2023)

“Jewellery has the power to be the one little thing that makes you feel unique”. Making jewellery is like making your own magic.

The Times of India organized a Jewellery Designing Workshop for the students of Class IX. The main goal of the workshop was to make students learn about the customized jewellery so that they can create a beautiful piece on their own which when they carry, will make their beautiful faces smile.

French Workshop - (September 2023)

Teaching is more than imparting knowledge, it is inspiring change. Learning is more than absorbing facts, it is acquiring understanding.

The Prayatna Education Society played a significant role in promoting the success of French language by organising a comprehensive workshop on “L’ Art d’ Enseigner” which was attended by our French Teacher, Ms. Priyam Matreja. The major goal of this session was to inform the educators about innovative teaching methods, foster language comprehension, and better prepare them well to mentor their students.

Capacity Building Workshop by Dr. Sabina Shergill - (26 August 2023)

Empowering Minds: Capacity Building Workshop on Life Skills.

In collaboration with Bhatnagar International School, Paschim Vihar, the Centre for Excellence, CBSE organized a transformative capacity building workshop on Life Skills. Led by our Vice Principal Dr. Sabina Shergill, the workshop aimed to equip educators with tools and techniques to foster students' holistic development. Life Skills, encompassing personal and social abilities, critical thinking, problem-solving, resilience, and emotional intelligence, were emphasized as essential for navigating life's challenges. Dr. Shergill's sessions, filled with thought-provoking discussions, interactive activities, and practical strategies, left an indelible impact on participants, inspiring them to become catalysts for change in their classrooms. As empowered educators, they resolved to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where students thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

NLP Workshop - (24 July 2023)

'Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.' - Earl Nightingale.

Well, to uncover the hidden treasure troves that our subconscious minds are, and to unlock the magic within, a workshop on Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) was organized for psychology students of Grade XI on 24th July 2023 in collaboration with Ms. Shalini Juneja, an ICF certified PCC coach, an NLP practitioner and the founder of Being Alive.

Voyaging through the Fruedian subterranean pool of subconscious mind, from which emerges the fountain of conscious mind- rising in the Sun and falling back, learners trod through the trail of re-engineering and reprogramming their subconscious minds into bringing positive change and growth, bringing self-empowerment, and advancing communication skills.

The enriching constellations of epiphanies was just an inception of the journeys of self-transformation, that the learners scavenge through, from here on!

CBSE HOL Meeting - (July 2023)

It is rightly said that collaboration is a key part of success for any organization. Keeping this in mind and to ensure the enhancement in the quality of education, CBSE had started with the concept of Hubs of Learning (HOL) in which groups of 4-6 neighborhood schools are formed for their collaborative growth.

As part of this initiative, our faculty member, Ms. Roompa Mitra, attended a Hub of Learning meeting at DAV Public School, Pushpanjali Enclave, Pitampura, New Delhi in which the participating schools exchanged ideas with each other regarding academic collaboration, resource sharing, best practices, new technological advancements etc. which helped all the member schools of the Hub to get inspired to work together towards creating an ecosystem which can pave the way towards self-improvement and holistic development for all of them.

Psychology Summer Internship Program - (26 June to 1 July 2023)

'You tell me, I hear. Make me experience, I metamorphose!'

Students of Grades 11th and 12th participated in the Psychology Summer Internship Program - an odyssey of diving deep into the dimension of psychological insights and edification, organized by the Mental Health Department, Fortis Hospital from 26th June 2023 to 1st July 2023.

The six-day capsule of enrichment began with our learners plunging into the nuances and intricacies of psychological interviewing and therapeutic skills.

Bringing the blurry clinical picture into focus, our learners unraveled the galaxies of various psychological disorders and meticulously maneuvered through the spectrum of therapeutic interventions.

And how can a psychology program culminate without a garnish of social psychology- which, then, transmuted into addressing a bigger pertinent question- how can you and I, as a community, end the stigma pertaining to mental health, and become equipped with the skills needed to provide psychological first aid and therapy.

Beginning the expedition as 'psychonauts', and returning as treasure troves of psychology - what could be a better way to celebrate the summer of 2023!

Training Programme on NEP-2020 by Dr. Sabina Shergill - (July 2023)

National Education Policy is all set to lay the foundation of a new India where its citizens are more empowered and future ready. In her pursuit to propagate the effective implementation of NEP 2020, our Vice Principal Dr. Sabina Shergill conducted a training programme on NEP-2020 organized at Lancers Convent Sr. Sec. School, Prashant Vihar, Rohini by the CBSE- COE (Delhi West). The workshop aimed to create awareness among teachers about the key features and benefits of this policy. It provided a platform for discussions and activities that fostered a deeper understanding of the NEP 2020 and its potential impact on the education system.

Dr. Shergill provided valuable information on the policy's objectives, vision, and its significance in shaping the future of education in India. These discussions covered various aspects of the NEP 2020, such as curriculum reforms, assessment methods, teacher training, and the integration of technology in education.

Aptitude and Attitude - (4 June 2023)

‘Every flower blooms at a different pace’ - Suzy Kassem

To inculcate a deep sense of awareness regarding broadening their thought process and working hard in the direction of being smart thinkers with the ability of quickness in thoughts. Our school in collaboration with Allen Career Institute organised a session for our IX graders on “Aptitude and Attitude”. Allen Career Institute is a pioneer institute in the field of coaching for Competitive Exams.

The speaker Dr. Arastu Upadhyay who has a doctorate in Human Physiology and is the Centre Head of Allen, guided the students towards targeting the examinations with the right kind of preparation and training.

Dr. Arastu posed several logic-based questions to the students to make them aware about the relevance of training their minds to think differently but constructively. The students actively participated, by clarifying their doubts.

Workshop on Learning Outcomes and Pedagogies conducted by Dr. Shergill - (June 2023)

The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows and our Vice Principal Dr. Sabina Shergill proves this adage to be true as she continually strives to awaken joy in the teaching fraternity and enlighten them towards attainment of the common objective of quality education. Our Vice Principal Dr. Sabina Shergill conducted a workshop on Learning Outcomes and Pedagogies organized by CBSE (Centre of Excellence), Delhi West at Cambridge Foundation School, Rajouri Garden. Dr. Shergill highlighted the need to relate the learning outcomes to teaching pedagogies in order to achieve the desired outcome. She reiterated the ways in which the learning outcomes can be identified and laid out efficiently to carry out unadulterated learning in the classroom.

Role of Guidance and Counselling Services, organized by COE Delhi West - (19 May 2023)

Guidance and Counselling in the modern age have become escalated needs because of a multiplicity of problems that the individual faces in important domains of life.

Our school counsellors Ms. Neha Dutta and Ms. Richa Arora attended a workshop on Role of Guidance and Counselling Services, organized by COE Delhi West on 19 May 2023, with Dr. Geetanjali Kumar, as the resource person. She is counselor, a life skill trainer, parenting coach, motivational speaker, family therapist, working for the past 20 years in the field of psychology and counseling.

The resource person beautifully explained the need of guidance and counselling services in school to encourage students’ academic, social, emotional, and personal development, an integral component of education as well.

She quoted Kintsugi, a Japanese tradition which teaches us to celebrate imperfections, which as humans are inevitable.

Children nowadays need to be trained with self-regulation techniques, to enable them to develop harmonious interpersonal relationships. Listening to a NO and accepting a NO is a very important life skill that they need to be equipped with, for holistic development of the child.

Experiential Learning Workshop - (16 May 2023)

Experiential learning is a method of learning where children actively participate in the learning process. It makes lessons easier for the children by including them in the instructing process. By engaging students in hands on experiences and reflection, they are better able to connect theories and knowledge learned in the classroom to real world situations. Keeping this in mind, a workshop on Experiential Learning was conducted by Ms. Neha Wahi as a part of In service Teacher’s Training Program. The workshop was organised with an aim to make teachers equipped about the various aspects of experiential learning. The teachers were enthusiastic and the session proved to be very useful for day to day teaching.

Financial Investment Workshop - (16 May 2023)

'An investment in knowledge pays the best interest'.

A Summer Workshop on Financial Planning was organized to make faculty members aware about various saving schemes, retirement benefits and tax saving schemes. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Nilanjan Banik under the aegis of Mahindra University. A Phd. in Economics from Utah State University, USA, and a Master of Economics from Delhi School of Economics, Prof. Banik focuses on applying econometrics to issues relating to international trade and Development economics. He focussed on efficient financial planning and investment options available. The teaching faculty had their queries answered regarding secured saving schemes and gained deeper insight into the vast world of money monitoring.

Health and Nutrition Workshop - (16 May 2023)

The first wealth is health and one of the most primary aspects of maintaining a healthy life is nutrition. However, it can be tough to find the motivation to stay on top of your diet and fitness goals. Eating healthy meals and staying away from junk food can be quite challenging but the journey becomes easy under the guidance of an expert. Ms. Muskan Dhawan, an adept nutritionist and wellness professional conducted a 'Health and Nutrition Workshop' for the teachers of SMWS, wherein she talked in detail about meal planning, exercise and managing a healthy lifestyle. She emphasised that the key to a happy life is first and foremost - good health. When we are physically fit, we stay positive, feel good, and celebrate small victories. She expounded that small steps can make a big difference when trying to cut down on junk food or taking out time for morning workouts. The interactive session motivated the teachers to follow a healthy lifestyle as nutrition is the only remedy that can bring full recovery and can be used with any treatment.

Meditation Workshop - (16 May 2023)

"Meditation is being in tune with our inner universe".

Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years and it was meant to help deepen the understanding of the sacred and mystical forces of life. These days, meditation is commonly used for relaxation and stress reduction. Our Vice Principal, Dr. Sabina Shergill conducted a meditation session for all the teachers which was very calming and stress relieving for them.

Zumba Workshop - (16 May 2023)

Grooving to the beats of salsa, flamengo, and merengue music feels more like a dance party than a workout, which is exactly what makes Zumba so popular. The Latin-inspired dance workout is one of the most popular group exercise classes in the world.

You don't need to be a great dancer to feel welcome in a Zumba Class. With the tag line, "Ditch the Workout, Join the Party," our faculty grooved to the beats of the peppy numbers to improve their HRQoL (Health Related Quality of Life). Dance exercise intervention of any kind is comparable to and sometimes more effective than other types of structured exercise for improving several health dimensions. In this regard, group fitness activities are a successful strategy to increase physical activity in adults with theoretical and empirical support.

It was a recreational change for the teachers who could finally let their hair loose and find some time for fun and alacrity.

AI and Robotics Workshop - (May 2023)

The applications of Artificial Intelligence are everywhere around us, in our homes, in our offices, and in our devices. Success in creating AI would be the biggest event in human history and thus an indepth understanding of the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics is a pre requisite to a sound future. In order to delve deeper into the sphere of AI and Robotics Goyal Brothers Publications in collaboration with Inventant organised a workshop at the Constitutional Club of India with an intention to unravel the immense scope of AI and Robotics.

The workshop had various sessions by Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, Mr. Rajul Karim, Mr. Ashok Pandey and Mr. Swapnil Gupta. The Workshop was attended by our faculty member Ms. Shubhra Sharavat who got an opportunity to gain insight about the emerging technologies in this sphere. The session was deeply enriching and enlightening.

Jewellery Making Workshop - (13 May 2023)

“Jewellery has the power to be this little thing that can make you feel unique.”

As a part of In-Service Teacher’s Training, Jewellery Making Workshop was organized for teachers to develop their creative skills. The workshop was conducted by our Vice-Principal, Dr. Sabina Shergill where she demonstrated and taught the teachers how to make beautiful jewellery pieces using old cloth, beads, threads etc. It was an enriching session that brought a whiff of freshness admist the mundane and hectic routine. It also provided them a platform to unravel their creativity and upskill themselves.

POCSO Workshop - (13 May 2023)

In the fast-changing times of technology, where everyone is taken over by media and mobile phones, it is almost impossible to always keep a close eye on children. With extra-cautious parents and sensitive students, each teacher strives to account for the safety and security of the children under her care. Yet, for times, when each party feels helpless with hands tied to take appropriate steps; when it becomes important to know wrong from right, we must adhere to what law states.

To acquaint and strengthen teachers with acts and laws of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), a workshop was conducted during the In-Service Teacher Training Programme on 13 May 2023. The session focussed on Child Rights for stakeholders with special focus on the POCSO Act. The eminent speaker Ms. Tulika Deb Mahapatra was invited to create awareness about child sexual abuse. She is associated with Prabhaav, as consultant Training and Development. She has conducted over 100 training sessions for teachers, students and principals on life skills, attitudes, and values. The workshop was organised with an aim to highlight various words and actions that should concern the teachers and parents, which are often overlooked as sexual harassment. It’s crucial to understand that any such experience with the child needs utmost sensitivity. The session ended with a deeper insight for teachers to train their children and prepare them with life skills and to be vigilant of their surroundings and their acquaintances.

Education is the way to move mountains, to build bridges and change the world. Education is a great leveler and is the best tool to achieve economic and social mobility along with inclusion and equality.

Our Vice Principal, Dr. Sabina Shergill conducted a Capacity Building Workshop on the New Education Policy 2020 organized by CBSE (Centre of Excellence), Delhi West at SD Girls Sr. Sec. School, East Patel Nagar. Dr. Shergill highlighted upon the true purpose of education which is much beyond just the acquisition of knowledge as preparation for life but for the complete realization and liberation of the self. She reiterated the ways in which one can innovate, adapt and absorb new material in novel and changing fields thus moving towards an education that is multidisciplinary.

Accountancy Workshop - (6 May 2023)

As the famous saying goes, "Life is like accounting, everything must be balanced.”

So to honour the spirit of accountancy as a subject. An accountancy workshop was conducted on 6th May, 2023 under the aegis of Sultan Chand and Sons. The workshop was graced by the presence of CA.(Dr.) G.S Grewal and Mr. R.K Khosla.

The workshop encompassed detailed dialogue on the importance of Ind-AS, competency based questions, changes in syllabus (2023-24) and National Curriculum Framework (NCF).

This insightful workshop was attended by Ms. Shivani Bhatia, accountancy faculty at SMWS.

"The entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it and exploits it as an opportunity”.

The Commerce students of Class XII indulged in a two day boot-camp organised by Mahindra University. The faculty member of MU Mr. Raj Narayan, a post graduate from IIT Hyderabad, enlightened the students about entrepreneurship and design thinking.

The resource person taught students about pitching design thinking whereas Mr. Ashu Diwan who is a tenured entrepreneur does regular counselling on startups and entrepreneurship helped the students explore the vast world of business. On the first day of the Bootcamp the budding entrepreneurs learnt about Root Cause Analysis and User Research whereas on the second say they successfully found creative solutions of the problems required for a prototype.

Workshop on Attitude and Aptitude - (13 April 2023)

Our school in collaboration with IMS Learning Resources organised a workshop on Attitude and Aptitude for Class 10 students on 13 April 2023.

The eminent speaker Ms. Neha Wahi is a decorated and highly experienced name associated with carers and school’s nationwide, who also happens to be a compulsive storyteller, shared stories of how people's attitude shaped their lives and help them achieve their goals regardless of all the hardships and struggles they went through.

In her expert opinion, our attitude is largely influenced by where we come from, people around us and situations that we are in. Being in this vulnerable age, students need to consider these forthcoming years as decisive and game changing years of their life.

Ms. Neha concluded the session, by laying emphasis on planning, time management, making achievable goals and measuring their progress along with keeping a positive attitude in mind would assure success in all spheres in life.

Workshop on Management as a Career after Class 12 - (April 2023)

Our school in collaboration with IMS organised a workshop for Class 12 students. The speaker Mr. Siddharth Singhal, Cuet expert and a Career Counsellor for more than 18 years of experience addressed our students, about the options available to all the students interested in management regardless of their streams. He extensively discussed the eligibility criteria and entrance exams schedule for students aspiring to take management as a career. He also shared some very important information related to the preparation for getting admissions into some of India’s top management institutes.

In all it was a highly information packed session with a clear view about the importance of planning for a lucrative management course by choosing the best out of the IIM’S of our country.

Online Workshop on Hybrid Learning - (15 February 2023)

Hybrid learning opens the door for all learners to participate equally, no matter their circumstances. Understanding its relevance and importance, CBSE organised an Online Workshop on Hybrid Learning on 15 February 2023, wherein the moderator explained the nuances of Microsoft Teams, and how remote learning can take place effectively. The workshop aimed at personalized and inclusive online learning which is possible with digital content. The usage of different tools of Microsoft namely One Note, PowerPoint, Chats, Whiteboard, etc. were explained in detail. The informative session was attended by the teachers that further promoted their IT skills.

Workshop on Industry Engagement and Technology Exposure Program - (2 to 10 February 2023)

CBSE in partnership with Microsoft conducted 'Industry Engagement and Technology Exposure Program' for students across the CBSE schools. Microsoft, through it's Global Learning Partners held virtual sessions on technology exposure and industry engagement for students between 2nd to 10th February 2023. On the first day of the workshop, the students were taught about various programmes like entrepreneurship and emerging technologies. The students of Class XI of St. Mark's World School students from our school attended this informative workshop. On the second day the students were taught about time management and power automation. Post that every alternate day offline assignments and challenges were provided to the students during the program for continuous assessment and engagement. It was indeed an educational and informative workshop and the students were able to learn a lot of things that they are not able to experience while sitting in the classes. It was really good exposure for the students.

The main topics covered in the session were Cloud, AI, Analytics. Coding and application, entrepreneurial skills and implementation of various innovative ideas.

The students not only learnt the various hidden aspects but also enjoyed the practical and activities being conducted. Certificates were given to the students who successfully attended the sessions and completed the assessment activities.

'Teaching is a great way to keep learning.'

This should be the mindset of all the teachers to make their classrooms a learning platform. Keeping this outcome in mind and to equip teachers with all the more effective means to teach, St. Mark's World School, Meerabagh organised a workshop under the aegis of CBSE for teachers from Delhi, NCR and other neighbouring states. The topic of the Workshop was, 'Capacity Building Programme on Learning Outcomes and Pedagogies' held on 28 January 2023.

The workshop was attended by more than 60 teachers from all the categories i.e. teachers taking pre-primary, primary, secondary and senior secondary classes were all part of this interactive session.

The workshop was well conducted by two renowned speakers who have already carved a niche for themselves in the field of education. The two speakers Dr. Meenakshi Gupta, Principal SD Public School and Ms. Santosh Vyas, Principal Sadhu Vaswani School engaged their audience with constant interaction.

The workshop was taken up with the aim to understand the difference between learning objectives and learning outcomes. Teachers were made to understand the goal of NPE which aims at minimum levels of learning for each child.

The speakers in the workshop talked about Bloom's Taxonomy, Identification of Domain and Cognitive levels of educational outcomes, Simpson's Taxonomy of Psychomotor Domain, 21st century competencies, preparation and efficacy of assessments. The tools were elaborately explained by the speakers and were made more easy to understand by giving real life examples from their illustrative careers in the field of education. An interactive session with the teachers helped them to understand that how the lesson plans can be made more interesting.

The one day workshop was a fruitful initiative by CBSE and the organizers, as it made the teachers realise how they can be more productive by implying more effective pedagogies in their teaching practices to attain the desired learning outcomes.

Workshop on Breast Cancer - (13 January 2023)

St. Mark’s World School in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute of Research Centre organised a workshop for teachers on an awareness and prevention of breast cancer. The speaker Dr. Anjali Pahuja, Senior Consultant in the department of Radiation Oncology educated the school staff on early detection, importance of examination, healthy lifestyle choices and preventive strategies to timely treat breast cancer. Our staff was very interactive and discussed a lot queries.

Handicraft Workshop for Classes VI to XII - (January 2023)

Art is an expression of our thoughts, emotions and desires. Its about sharing the way we experience the world.

Renowned artisan - Ms. Hema Mehra from Pidilite was invited as the resource person to conduct handicraft workshop on Lamp Making for the teachers of Class VI to XII. Ms. Hema guided all the teachers to create wonderful pieces of lamp using simple materials available at home. She gave inputs into each artist’s work to help express their own imagination. Teachers participated in this workshop whole-heartedly which was aimed to enhance their creativity in the field of art and craft.

Organ Donation Workshop - (January 2023)

"We make a living by what we get....
But we make a life by what we give."

With this commitment and hope to enlighten lives of others we at St. Mark's World School started our new year 2023 on a promising note where eight teachers from our school attended the workshop on 'Organ Donation'. The workshop was held at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. School, Meerabagh.

The workshop was organised by MOHAN Foundation - Multi Organ Harvest Aid Network.

The resource person, Dr. Muneet Kaur Sahi and Ms. Simran Anand enlightened the audience about the various facts related to Organ Donation as it is till date not an acceptable practice for India and Indians. Although we have entered into the 21st century yet our mindsets towards this particular topic is yet shackled in the vicious circle of myths.

It was amazing to know that where the majority of the world has to 'Opt Out' from organ donation (being mandatory for them). Only USA and India are two countries where we are asked to 'Opt In' for this noble cause. A country which stands second in world population only shared 0.8% share of organ donors, hence we need to give it a thought.

Imagine if we can make this donor share from 0.8% to 1-2%, the long list of recipients waiting in anticipation worldwide will automatically shortened they will only have gratitude for the donor and the donor's family.

How about bringing this difference? How about giving a destitute new life? How about garnering only blessings in return? Let's make a difference, a difference in which you can count your blessings.

Yoga Workshop - (January 2023)

‘Yoga is a flame when you light it up, the glow never fades away.’

Keeping the spirit of this thought in mind, a healthy and energizing Yoga session was organized for the teachers. The teachers participated enthusiastically. The teachers participated with all their zest and it was an ethereal spiritual experience for the teachers where they learnt to align their mind, body and soul.
