The preliminary round of Biz Ecom - The commerce Quiz was conducted in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh for Commerce students after which 5 teams comprising 2 students each were shortlisted for the next round in Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg. These 5 teams competed with the 80 teams of schools of Delhi and NCR region. After the first round 6 teams were shortlisted for the next round which was on-stage round out of which 2 were from our school.
The winning teams comprised of :
Team1 - Gitansh Bhola (XII D) and Harshit Garg (XII D).
Team 2 - Nimesh Shaw (XII C) and Abhiroop Dutta (XII C).
These students got consolation prizes after rigorous rounds on the stage. |
St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organised an Intra School Model United Nations for Classes VII to XI themed Vincent cum Liberte on 31 October and 1 November, 2019. Around 100 students participated in simulation of UNGA and AIPPM. Our young student diplomats in General Assembly debated on threat of non- state actors in countries like Syria, Lebanon and Sri Lanka under the guidance of Mr. Vardaan Shekhawat.
The debate also included threats of narco- terrorism and the imminent danger of trading of nuclear weapons to these dangerous elements. Delegates holding portfolios like Omar Abdullah, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, Mehmooba Mufti, Yogi Aditya Nath and Shri Narendra Modi reviewed the revocation of Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir in AIPPM under guidance of Mr. Radha Raman Tiwari.

An Inter-Class Computer Competition was held for classes I to V on 25 October, 2019. The children were supposed to make their projects on MS–Paint, TUX Paint and MS-Power-Point. They made some wonderful scenes and amazing presentations. The judges also appreciated the performance of the children.

An Inter Class English Play Competition for Classes VI and VIII was held on 22 October, 2019 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Some of the plays performed by Class VI were ‘Perfect Imperfect’, ‘Forty Fortunes’, ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘The Mad Mad Dream’ and by Class VIII were ‘An Irish Engagement’, ‘the Diamond Necklace’, ‘Hamlet’ and ‘The Bloodstone’.
The performances of the students were applauded by the judges and the parents.

The Inter Class English Recitation for students of Class I of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh was conducted on 11 October, 2019. The theme of the competition was 'MOTHER'. The children recited beautiful poems on the same. Some of the poems recited were ‘A Car Trip’, ‘A Perfect Mother’, ‘Valentine for Mom’, ‘More than a Mother’.

An Intra Class G.K. Quiz was held on 4 October, 2019 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh for the students of Class II wherein 2 participants from each house were selected and asked questions based on various topics like Plants and animals, Sports, Musical instruments, famous Indian Personalities etc. The rest of the students also participated enthusiastically as audience and won many prizes.

A G.K. Quiz was conducted for the students of Class I of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. 8 students per section were shortlisted based on the GK preliminary round conducted on 26 September 2019. Multiple choice questions were asked on topics such as ‘Fairy Tales’, ‘Festivals’, ‘Sports’, ‘Rhymes’, ‘Freedom Fighters’, etc. Participants enjoyed this and even the non participants got a chance to participate in the quiz by answering the audience questions. Students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed it thoroughly. The first two teams who scored the highest marks got the prizes. Students in the audience were also awarded for answering the questions.

The students of Class III presented a variety of plays in the Inter Class English Play Competition on 21 September, 2019. The students were very confident and spoke fluently with impeccable expressions and voice modulation.
The Blue Umbrella, Aladdin, Dr. Dolittle, Matilda, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast were the plays that were presented before the audience.

An Inter School Competition 'Hindi Rasdhara' was organised at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Janak Puri on 14 September 2019 to celebrate 'Hindi Diwas'. Students of the Primary Wing from all the three branches of St. Mark's School participated in various competitions like Hindi Recitation, Suno Kahani, Kahani Bunein etc. Students of our school participated with great enthusiasm and won many prizes.

An Inter Class Hindi Play Competition for Classes VII and IX was held on 27 July, 2019. Some of the plays presented by Class VII were Akbari Lota, Shakuntla, Vridhashram, Shaanti ki Kursi and by Class IX were Kal Aaj Aur Kal, Rang de Basanti, Naya Daur and Teen Bahuraniya.
The award for the Best Play was bagged by Shaanti ki Kursi (Class VII) and Teen Bahuraniya (Class IX).

To enhance the singing potential and confidence of the children, Inter Class Solo Singing Competition was organized for the students of Class V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 23 July, 2019. It provided an opportunity to the students to exhibit their hidden talent. The audience was mesmerized by the wonderful performances.

On 20 July, 2019, the Inter Class English Play for Class IV was organized. The plays were witnessed by the Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, Vice Principals and the parents. All the plays were enacted beautifully and the audience was awe struck by the performances.
The plays performed were : ‘The Lucy and the Efficiency Expert’, ‘Tom Sawyer’, ‘Villa for Sale’, ‘Little Women’, ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘Learning to be a lady’ and ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

An Inter Class Solo Singing Competition was held on 6 May, 2019 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. The participants of Class III put forth their enthralling performance and enchanted everyone with their beautiful voices. They sang wonderful songs like ‘Here I am to worship', ‘Everything at once’, ‘My heart will go on’,etc. All our young maestros who took part in the competition made it a great success and were applauded by one and all.

The Annual Award Ceremony (2018-19) was conducted on 15 March, 2019 in St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School. HOGI students of Classes I and II, had their Parent Presentation 'Triumph' on 6 and 7 March, 2019. The students performed a variety from the HOGI curriculum – 1) Improvisations Namely - God's Own Palette of Colours, Books are our Best Friends, Magical Earth, Harmony makes the World so Bright, The Chef's Magic Pot and Jojo the Circus Clown;2) A Mime to Music - The Giant Octopus and 3) Community helpers.
Students exuberated immense creativity through their performances in all the acts. With colourful outfits and props, they looked vibrant on stage. The students with their performances showcased all the 3Cs of HOGI - Creativity, Confidence and Communication. |

The final round of Inter House G.K. Quiz of Class II took place on 19 November, 2018. The quiz consisted of 8 rounds with topics like festivals and traditional dresses of India, facts about our country, places on earth, sports persons, different musical instruments, etc. Each round had an audience round in which the audience participated actively and were also given prizes for correct answers.
The students answered the questions with great enthusiasm and enjoyed the quiz. The questions were as per the Class level.

The Talent Hunt show is a great way to celebrate the talent of the students. These competitions nurture the intrinsic qualities of the students and remove the fear of stage which helps in personality development. Young children have an ocean of hidden talents amongst them and it was displayed at the Talent Hunt show - Let them Shine. The students dressed in colourful dresses were full of confidence and enthusiasm. They showcased the skills through different acts like singing, dancing, magic show etc.

St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organized Lexicon, a language and literary extravaganza on the 26th of November, 2018 which was open to the three branches of the SMS family.
Poetic Magic : English Recitation Competition was conducted for Classes VI to IX and XI. Students of Class VIII also participated in Lyrics on Stage : Poetry Dramatization. The students of Class XI showcased their oratory skills by delivering famous speeches in the event named Oratory Bonanza : Famous Speeches. The quizzing wizards of Class VI and Class IX participated in a Quiz on Books and Authors (Let’s Get Quizzical) and a Quiz on Shakespeare (Celebrating the Bard) respectively.
On 27 of November, 2018 all the three schools presented a play each celebrating the art of theatre. The students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Janak Puri presented a light hearted play - The Ugly Duckling by A. A. Milne. St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School, Meera Bagh gripped the audience with their power packed performance in the play Anne Arky. The students of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh mesmerized the audience with a presentation of the play Pygmalion by G. B. Shaw.
Ms. A. Aggarwal, Principal, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh spoke about the importance of events like Lexicon that should be organized annually. She appreciated the participants and the prize winners and encouraged them to continue participating in such events.
The programme culminated with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. R. Anand, Vice Principal, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh.

Solo Singing competition was held for the students of Classes I and IV of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh on 15 October, 2018. The students sang nice melodious numbers and enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing performances. Some of the songs sung by the students of Class I were - ‘Theme for a dream', ‘Una Paloma Blanca', ‘I see a boat on the river' etc. Some of the songs sung by the students of Class IV were – ‘Country Roads', ‘Try Everything’, ‘Here I am to Worship' etc. They were appreciated and encouraged by the judges.

English Recitation Competition for students of Class V of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh was held on 4 September, 2018. The theme for the competition was 'Patriotism'. The students recited beautiful poems about the epitome of sacrifice displayed by a soldier and on the other hand about the VIBGYOR of diversity which is present in our incredible nation. Some of the poems recited were - India of My Dreams, Incredible India and a Ballad of Joan of Arc. The judges appreciated the manner in which the students brought out the feelings of the poets.

Dramas and plays are strong mediums of communication. In order to develop dramatic skills and promote acting ability among students, St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh organized an Inter School Drama Competition on 18 August, 2018. The competition included plays of different genres of English language of Classes VI and VIII. The plays that were presented by students in this unique competition were : ‘James and the Giant Peach’, ‘The Dear Departed’, ‘All the World’s a stage – Jahapanah’ and ‘Captain Harshan’ by Class VI and ‘The Cinderella Story’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’’ and ‘Let Mahananda Live’ by Class VIII. All the performances were highly appreciated by the parents.
The play ‘All the world is a stage – Jahapanah’ was adjudged the Best Play in Class VI and ‘The Cinderella Story’ bagged the honour in Class VIII.

An Inter Class English Play Competition for Class V was held on 12 May, 2018 in St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. Around 100 children participated who depicted various plays taken from various genres like 'The Little Women', 'Making of a Lady', 'Mary Poppins', ‘Swami and his Friends’, ‘A Dollar’, etc. The children participated enthusiastically and performed fantastically well on the stage. The parents appreciated the hard work done by the children as well as the teachers.

| A quiz on mathematics for Class VIII was held on 1 February, 2018. The entire quiz was divided into five rounds : General Round, Hands on Round, Triko Round, Buzzer Round and Who am I Round. Although all rounds were keenly contested, buzzer round and hands on was the limelight of the quiz. |

It is said that a book is like a garden carried in the pocket. But getting kids to crack open books is often no walk in the park! During this year's observance of Book Week for our students from 16 to 20 January, 2018, we shared the wonder and magic of books in our classroom with help of a few great literary events. This is done every year to enhance the literary skills and inculcate good reading habits in students.
Day 1 marked the inauguration of the mega event with Class I which had a story telling session with the well known author Ms. Ira Sehgal. Classes II to V had competitions such as ‘Recitation Competition, Quiz on Fairy Tales and Giving a Twist to the Tale events'. The Junior Reader’s Society met an eminent author ‘Ms. Deepa Aggarwal’. Day 2 saw a plethora of events. Read Aloud Competition for class III, Create a book cover for class IV and a Quiz on Vocabulary and Grammar for class V. The Odyssey Club members met the famous author
Ms. Devika Rangachari and got many tips to write well.
Day 3 was devoted to classes VI to VIII. Class VI participated in ‘Making a mini newspaper’ and had a workshop with a famous cartoonist Mr. Ajit Narayan. Class VII created a booklet on friends and family. Selected students also took a Quiz on Books and Authors. Day 4 kicked off with Class VIII students participating in ‘Know your Proverbs’ event. Class IX had a Quiz on Indian Authors. There was also a ‘Book Review’ for Class IX where the students retold short stories of famous authors. Class XI students had a ‘Quiz on Shakespeare’ and ‘Changing the end of the story’ events.
The week long extravaganza, full of fun and learning ended with the prize distribution ceremony. The Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal encouraged the students to be avid readers throughout their lives. |
