Eco- Club “Vasudha” of St. Marks Sr. Sec Public School, Janakpuri has been working tirelessly since 1999 to add up its contribution to improve the challenging environmental conditions.
The coordinators and club members have undertaken various environmental friendly activities like tree plantation, campaigns against noise and air pollution and the awareness campaigns amongst the society like “No Plastic for me”, “Say no to crackers” and the most important one the “Cleanliness Drive”.
Keeping in mind “COMING TOGETHER IS A BEGINNING, KEEPING TOGETHER IS PROGRESS,WORKING TOGETHER IS SUCCESS”, the club has joined hands with The Art of Living in its Clean Delhi- NCR Drive campaign for which the school has adopted A-3 block of Janakpuri for spreading awareness to keep the surroundings clean. |

To create an awakening in the young minds for preserving and conserving their natural environment and to make them more sensitive towards their surroundings, Earth Day Celebrations were carried out by the Eco-Club ‘Vasudha’ of St. Mark’s School, Janak puri by organizing various activities such as ‘Best out of waste’, designing pamphlets (on the topics concerning environment) and designing of stamp on the theme “Conserving Wild Life”.
Great stress was laid on the concept of 3R’s – Reduce, Recycle & Reuse which was told to be adopted as the mantra in every day life. The activities organized at primary level were :
Class I : Making Badges with Earth Day Slogans.
Class II : Bird Feeders using empty milk / juice tetrapacks.
Class III : Calender on Endangered Animals.
Class IV : Magazine holders using empty Cereal boxes.
Class V : Poster – making with Go – Green slogans using layers of old Newspapers. |
| In continuation with their cleanliness drive an initiative taken by Eco-Club Vasudha – the young energetic Markians along with the Resident welfare Association members , Mr. Duggal (Councellor of MCD) and Mr. Mahabal Mishra (MLA ) and Deputy Commissioner Mr. Meena (West Zone) started their drive with another important campaign ‘Save The Girl Child’. Principal Ms. Rama Sethi along with Vice Principal Ms. Alka Kher and Educational Supervisor Ms. Anupam Ganesh released the pamphlets which contained Eco friendly tips to save the environment and flagged off the rally. |

| The students with their indomitable and selfless service for their community and ably guided by Eco Club Coordinator Ms. Archana Tyagi started from the school and reached their adopted area – A3 Block , Janakpuri where they cleaned up the entire area and planted saplings. . Thus instilling in others the feeling of community ownership. |
Our school was awarded with the prestigious Green and Clean School Campus Award 2011.
This award was given by "The Global Open University Nagaland’, World Management Congress Committee, Higher Education and Development (HEAD) Summit and the confederation of Indian University on 31st December 2011 at India International Center.
This award has been given to appreciate the outstanding contribution of our school in the areas of Environmental Education planning, cleaning and greening of the school campus. |

Green Delhi Award was presented by Smt. Shiela Dixit on 21st October to ‘Vasudha’ the Eco Club of SMS Janakpuri.
The Clean Drive Campaign was initiated in the month of September 2011 and A-3 Block, Janakpuri was adopted as a cleaning site. |
On the occasion of the ‘Earth –Week’ by the Eco-Club ‘ Vasudha’ various activities were carried out in school. The basic objective of these activities was to practically apply the concept of 3 R’s –
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
in our daily lives in order to save our Mother Earth and also to become an active member of Eco – Warrior club and adopt techniques which can save this unique planet of our future generations. |

Collage making competition was held where more than 45 schools from Delhi and NCR participated. The event was organized on Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Divas – 2010.
Srishty Saxena of Class V was awarded II Prize by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Mrs. Shiela Dixit at the State Level Function organized by TERI group. |
 The campaign was started to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness whereby student volunteers of SMS Janakpuri along wither Eco Club Coordinators sensitized people about working together for cleaning up our environment by cleaning up various places like park, roads and market place. Mrs. S. S. Duggal, President Public Welfare Forum, the senior citizens of the area and the senior citizens of the area also joined the student volunteers. |

‘Tree Plantation Drive’ is a regular and forms an important feature of the Eco-Club ‘Vasudha’ of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Janak Puri. This year also the Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal initiated the plantation drive. Students of Class IV dressed up as trees, added charm to the occasion.
The students also took a pledge to take care of their mother earth by saying together “Love the Earth ; it is the only we have got”, as very well said that divinity gives fields and humanity builds cities. |
Industrial and Technological Progress has endangered the very essence of our manifestation. Being conscious of all this World Nature conservation Day was observed on 28th July 2008. Badges stressing upon the importance of the day were distributed by the Eco-Club "VASUDHA". The Club members displayed messages on Placards on themes like 'Conservation of Resources' and 'No Plastic For Me' followed by the talks on conservation of nature in the morning school assembly.
A rally by the Eco-Club members and the Club Coordinators was later on flagged off by the Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal. |

| The Eco-Club 'Vasudha' of Our School organized the free distribution of re-usable bags. All the members of Class IV employees were given these bags by the Chairman. Manager Mr. L. K. Rai & the co-ordinator teachers distributed the bags amongst the common people. The ill effects of the growing use of plastics was also explained. |
'VASUDHA' the Eco-club of our school undertook DIWALI celebrations with a difference. A medicinal plant nursery grown with organic fertilizers was started on this auspicious day. Our Chairman, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal inaugurated the nursery by lighting diyas on the eco-friendly rangoli made by the members and co-ordinators of the club.
After this the club members took out and awareness rally through the lanes of A-block Janakpuri, distributing pamphlets against bursting of crackers and sensitizing the society about the ill-effects of pollution caused due to it. |
