The resource person, Mrs. Ira Sehgal, presented a functional content before the students, citing examples from their daily lives. The major anger-provoking causes were discussed and students were given alternate ways of responding to avoid the aggression. The emphasis was laid on the consequences and the students were made to differentiate the effects of their aggressive acts & non aggressive acts.
At the end, strategies for Anger Management were also presented Before the students and few relaxing exercises were practiced . |
A workshop for the parents was conducted by Times of India in the school on 21st April 2012. The topic was ‘POSITIVE PARENTING’.
The speaker, Mrs. Jayashree Mehta addressed the parents with issues that are experienced in the course of parenting. The main focus of the workshop was on building up the child’s self-esteem which enables him to be a confident decision maker of future. It was emphasized that the parents are the real role – models for their children and their actions and ideas are mirrored by their young ones. The significance of parent’s communication skills and interpersonal relationship was also elaborated.
At the end, an interactive session took place where the parents put forward their experience and were discussing the ways of improvement for a better & positive parent-child relationship. |
| On 28 March 2012 Dr. Ira Sehgal conducted a workshop on Stress Management. Just as there are many sources of stress, there are many possibilities of its management. She laid emphasis on exercising for releaving mental stress. Eatings wall balanced, nutritious meals and maintaining ideal weight further reduces stress. The workshop benefitted one and all. |

A ‘Hands on Electronics and Technology Programme’ on 24 December 2011 introduced – The ‘World of Electrons’ to 50 teachers from approximate 30 schools in collaboration with ‘The Forum Of public Schools’.
Suraj Prakash (Patron, Forum of Public Schools) emphasized on the need of bringing new methods of teaching into practice for learning, specially in otherwise tough subjects like Physics.

Ganit Gurooz workshop on ‘Number Sense Challenges and Strategies’ was conducted by the founder chairperson Dr. Atul Nischal (a doctorate in Mathematics from U.S.A). Ganit Gurooz is the largest web resource for Maths teachers and a recipient of the ‘Manthan Award South Asia 2010’ for innovation in E-learning for teacher training.
Workshop aimed at explaining number sense and how it is different from number skills. He emphasized on the role of primary teachers to create a sound foundation of mathematical ideas in a child starting from abstract to numbers.
Overall the workshop provided the teachers an insight and ways to help students overcome the challenges they face in developing number sense. |

It was conducted by a skilled professional who taught different innovative ways of decorating a candle. It was an enthralling and encouraging workshop where students learnt various artistic skills. |

| A workshop on Newspaper Craft was conducted by Times of India on 8 November 2011 for the students of class VIII to sensitize students about the newspapers before it is sent for recycling. The workshop taught the students how to make an elephant mask, various folding and cutting methods to make the most out of a waste newspaper to decorate their projects, class boards, festival decoration, etc. |

The panel of counsellors and educationists discussed various ways of forging a strong bond of a child with a competent and caring adult to help make the child resilient, disciplined and capable of surviving in adversity. |
A workshop on table manners was conducted in the month of October 2011 for the students of class V by Times of India.
The workshop focused on the rules of etiquette while catering. It also educated the students about the appropriate ways of using cutlery on the table and how to make use of social graces while dining. |

The Museum was fully equipped with basic concepts of Agricultural Science in a more practical way. The students learnt various topics such as evolution of man. Indus Valley Civilization, various seasons and festivals associated with agriculture. They were shown 3D movie regarding agricultural – festivals, different live models were shown to the students. Ms. Ritu Khurana and Ms. Manju Wadhwa attended a workshop on PEC Cards (Physical Education Cards) - 'Exercising the Body and the Mind' organized by KIIT World School, Saraswati Vihar on 24 September 2011 by Dr. Mukesh Kohli an eminent resource person.
The teachers were divided into groups in which they performed various activities. they were briefed about the PEC Cards and its objectives. The teachers participated in a variety of sport activities and learnt how to assimilate sports in their teaching style. It was a great learning experience. |

The topic of the day was PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF AGGRESSION IN SCHOOL CHILDREN.
The sessions were preceded by eminent speakers- Dr. V. S. Ravindran (Director ICTRC), Prof. R. K. Shashwat (NCERT), and Dr. Jaya (Educational Psychologist).
The session focused on How to Save an Aggressive child by highlighting the major causes of aggression in school and then stating the techniques for management of such behavior.
The prominent duty of the counselor is to guide a child to a goal in life and that is the ultimate solution to manage a child. |

And a subsequent visit by class XII students to the Income Tax Office (ITO) on 2nd September 2011 where the Commissioner of Income Tax New Delhi Mr. Luv Saxena introduced the concept and system of taxation with the help of an attractive and knowledgeable presentation and solved the queries regarding taxation and Career options of the students. |

In order to make the parents aware of the Learning Disabilities and for their early identification an interactive workshop was organized on “Specific Learning Disability – Identification and Management of Children” organized by ‘ Beautiful Mind Clinic’- Janakpuri. The presentees were an expertise in the field of psychiatry namely Dr. Rajiv Sharma M. D. AIIMS, Dr. Kala Sengupta and the team.
The workshop was meant for both teachers and parents with an endeavor to help the children “needing” it and not just “seeking” it. An interaction with both teachers and parents helped in the identification of situational problems as well. This made the workshop a success. |
A session by Mr. Jatin Chawla - eminent educationist and career counsellor - was held on 22nd and 25th July 2011 for Class X and for Class XI & XII - Science Stream.
The session for Class X included strategies and skills for effective studying, wherein tips on concentration, memorizing, time management and self motivation were given. This session was concluded by listing of career options to the students.
The session for Class XI & XII Science Streams included a presentation named - Science Safari, which highlighted various career options for science students. Both the sessions were very informative for the students as it set forth a plethora of career options and various institutes related to it. |
Commerce Teachers Association has been consistently making efforts to empower its faculty members and towards this endeavour, a comprehensive training programme during the summer break was organized by them. The main theme was to familiarize the teachers with computerized accounting in association with GAAP at its Patel Nagar Center from 30 May to 14 June 2011.

Scholastic India Pvt. Ltd. organized a workshop on ‘How to Get More from a Textbook’ on 4th December 2010 at Columbia Foundation School, Vikas Puri. The workshop was conducted by Mrs. Urmila Chowdhury.
The workshop explored the different ways of teaching the Literature text book to enhance comprehension, teach language and also develop a love for reading in the students. Different activities were suggested, like role playing, puzzles and card games to encourage team work and also improve spoken English among students. Leo planetaria organized portable digital planetarium show 'SKY TONIGHT' on 1st November 2010. 148 students from Classes VI to VIII watched the show. The show was based on learning through entertainment. It gave an exposure to the students about the fascinating universe. The objective of the show was to motivate the students to learn and understand more about space science so that they can pursue it as a hobby and career. It was an exhilarating experience for the students of our school. |
Tagore International School Vasant Vihar organized the third round of interactive meet in November 2010, an initiative which took birth in 2008.
Its theme for the present year was 'Ordinary people - Extraordinary Determination'. It was meant to provide and inculcate leadership skills and a common platform to discuss value of determination in leadership.
Two representatives from our school Nidhi Kapoor (Vice Head Girl) and Pranav Jain (Vice Head Boy) attended this meet. In the words of Nidhi, "The experience was a novel one and the student participants were given an opportunity to participate in a given situation of political complexity and asked to provide a solution" .
They were enthusiastic about the whole experience and were hoping to repeat it in the coming years. |
| Students from V – IX are enrolled in the Atelier Kidz – programme. The programme comprised of various activities such as workshops, celebrity talk, enacting the text. | Students of our school attended a story telling session organized by Scholastic, as part of their 90th anniversary celebration, on 22nd October 2010 at the Amphi Theatre of India Habitat Centre. The students enjoyed the stories narrated by four story tellers drawn from various walks of life. The enthralling interactive session with the story tellers under the starry sky was a great experience for our students. |
A workshop on specific learning disabilities and inclusive education was organized by the Forum of Public Schools on 25th September 2010 at New State Academy School, Pitam Pura. The resource person of the workshop was Dr. Jitender Nagpal and his team, including Special Educators, Psychologists and occupational therapist. It was attended by the Educational Supervisor Mrs. Anupam Ganesh & the school counsellor Ms. Abha.
The workshop basically focused on the understanding of various types of learning disabilities and Attention deficit hyperactive disorder. Various classroom screening measures were discussed and alarming tips were given to the primary teachers. Points of remedial intervention were also suggested and its implementation in class was explained.
Importance of inclusive education and its set up was also taken up by them and few points of consideration for such sit up are :

» Vocational training center especially for special cases.
It was a useful session in terms of understanding the theoretical background & bridging the gap between theory and practice. |

Planetarium show was organized in the school for the students of classes IV & V on 2nd August 2010 to give an exposure about the fascinating universe. The children were shown Princess Andromeda Constellation show. Students won prizes in the quiz that followed the show. The students were able to relate their knowledge with the real sky and inculcate scientific temperament through the entertaining activity as they could see the universe in the Dome.

| A visit to the Parle – G factory at Bahadurgarh was organized for students of class V by Times of India – NIE on 30 June 2010. Students were first shown a documentary on the ‘World of Parle-G’. They were taken around the huge factory where baking, packing and storage of biscuits and toffees was going on. The fresh smell of biscuits was very tempting. On their way back, children were given gift hampers. The children enjoyed the trip. |

This programme was sponsored & managed by the Deptt. of Science & technology Govt. of India.
Lectures on various topics like biomedical sciences, Electronics Robotics, Food Technology, Instrumentation Microbiology, Physics, Polymer Sciences, Genetic Engineering etc. were delivered by the top & experienced faculty from DU, JNU, AIIMS, IUPAC, ICAR, BCIL, SIIR etc. |
| Students of class VIII visited Govt. of India, DMS, Milk Plant at West Patel Nagar, New Delhi on 29th and 30th April 2010. The Visit was a great success as this had helped the students to gain the First Hand Practice information about the Quality Control, Production and Cold Storage of milk products. |
On 22nd October 2009, ‘Doordarshan’ and ‘Hriday Shan’ held a talk show on the topic – Road Safety - ‘Drinking and Driving’. It was presided over by Dr. K. S. Reddy. Class XI students from our school participated in the talk.
They talked about their own experiences on the road and how to reduce the menace of drinking while driving and the same was telecasted on D.D National on the 7th of November 2009. |
Our school students participated in the “Sensitization on Climate Change” organized by The Energy & Research Institute (TERI). The resource person Ms. Ranjana Saikia demonstrated the influence of global warming & climate change on both environment and human life. It showed the effects of recent climate change on rising sea levels, glacier retreat, arctic shrinkage, and altered patterns of agriculture because of human activities. Some of the visible affect include extreme weather events, an expansion of tropical diseases, changes in the timing of seasonal patterns in ecosystems, and drastic economic impact.
The seminar emphasized on preventive measures like reduction in the use of non-renewable sources. This will have a positive affect on the health and well being of the people. |

This workshop was organized by The Energy and Research Institute (TERI) in Fr. Agnel school. It was attended by our teacher Neha Sarin accompanied by Chhavi Khurana XI C, Aman Gupta XI B and Abhishek Sharma XI B.
The objective of the program was to spread awareness among the youth of India, mainly students. The program desires to use ICT (Information Communication Technology) to provide students a way to share their thoughts on how climate change is affecting our life and how India can contribute towards sustainable development through sincere efforts. The program will be extended to students from class V to XI and 50 schools in each city will be divided into five clusters and one school from each cluster will become the nodal centre. |

| Our school organized a programme on “First Aid in self wound Care” by Win Medicare on 20th April 2009. The aim of the programme was to help young minds to learn to take care of themselves and others in the hour of need and learn to be self reliant, safe and healthy. The information on First Aid was presented in a lively way for the children through a skit by a clown-cum-magician and his buddy. |

Our school organized a workshop on “Class room Management” enhancing teaching for tomorrow – “The primary teaching faculty participated in this 3 day workshop (from 25 - 27 June 2009).
The workshop comprised of different modules – namely teaching attitudes & styles, teaching strategies & skills & class room management process. The training activities were based on case studies and concept boards which were discussed both individually and in groups. The exercises & quizzes on the content material were quite interactive and triggered a variety of responses.
The entire module stimulated the teachers to review & introspect there own attitudes, skills & techniques towards effective teaching learning experience. The modules were pre designed and the trainer Ms. Meenu Gulati kept to the given time schedule. However, some real life experiences and problems related to the dealing with special cases could have been taken up. A few fun games could also have been added in the schedule. |
| Workshop on Emergency Preparedness for School Health Workers was attended by Ms. Annamma held at Columbia Asia Hospital, Gurgaon on 27 February 2009. The emergency guidelines are meant to serve as basic information for school health provider, in order to perform safely and effectively, skills should be learnt and practiced in the presence of trained Doctors especially in Aasthma Allergy and Epilepsy and taking care of school emergencies. |
