| The spirit of community award programme created by Prudential Inc. in the U.S. in 1995 are a school level recognition programme for the community service. Their objective is to encourage the efforts of school children currently engaged in voluntary community service and hold them as role models for all young Indians. |

The students of our school were awarded with Gold and Bronze medals on March 31st at Epicenter, Gurgaon - the teacher incharge was Ms. Deepa Haruray.

| With the aim of helping the under privileged children our school organized a Painting Competition on 10 December 2012 where the students gave shape to their ideas on topics such as ‘School Chale Hum’, ‘When I grow up I want to become a ..............‘. The sale proceeds of this competition were donated towards the ‘HT Foundation For Change’ which aims to educate the weaker sections of our society. |

 The nationwide search to handpick school students who have made meaningful contributions to communities kicked off in July 2011 as the 2012 ‘Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards’ programme invited individual and group applications from students of Classes VI – XII across the country.
This prestigious awards programme instituted by DLF Pramerica Life Insurance Co. is an extension of the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, the largest youth recognition programme in the US based exclusively on volunteer service.
This year, out of the 3000+ applications received from Indian schools, 15 individual and three group entries made it to the final round. Prominent Physicist Prof. Yashpal gave away the awards to the students for their meaningful contributions to community.
Shreya Goel & Ridhima Choudhary of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Janak Puri, New Delhi bagged BRONZE MEDAL for their contribution towards society. |

SOS Villages of India’ is a NGO which is a non-profitable organization. It helps children, those who bravely faced various natural calamities like flood, earthquakes and terrorism. SOS Villages of India provide a complete home to these children.

| Growth of nation is also based on taking care of our weaker sections. Thus the entire school contributed generously for the S.O.S. Society. A cheque of Rs. 2,69,184/- was handed over by our Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal and Manager Mr. Rahul Aggarwal to Mr. Kanchan Sen, Head Marketing and S.O.S. children villages of India Fund Raising. |

| A group of 50 students went to SOS village Bawana on 20th July 2012 and interacted with the children, visited the homes and also met their mother. The students carried with them some gifts for these children and gained a special insight of their lives. |
 The school has always believed in saying “The hands that serve are more holy than the lips that pray “.
Following this maxim the school and students contributed an amount of Rs. 2,77,790 towards SOS Children Villages Of India. The Director Mrs. Anjali Aggarwal presented the cheque to Mr. Kanchan Sen – HEAD DIRECT MARKETING IN FUND RAISING DEPARTMENT OF SOS CHILDREN VILLAGES OF INDIA on the eve of Independence Day function held on 12th August 2011. |

The students visited the S.O.S village Bawana on 25th April and saw twenty two homes built by S.O.S society. Each home had ten children with the ‘Mother’- A care taker lady who looked after the needs of the children like her own. The mothers also told their story of struggle to bring up the children and finally making them settled down in life. The students enjoyed interacting with the children and also gave gifts to them. The experience was worth remembering , teaching the joy of sharing and giving. |

| The students interacted with village Students and learnt the way they lead their lives. They visited their respective homes, shared much information, played Cricket and sketched some drawings with them. Our students also gave some gifts to them which brought smiles on their faces. It was a wonderful experience to cherish. |

| The empathetic side of the young Markians was seen when they generously contributed large quantities of stuffed toys, shoes, stationery items, books, clothes, blankets, bedspreads etc. to the NGO – the ‘Goonj’ Society. |
| This year too the students donated 21 boxes which were handed over to the Goonj Society by the Manager of the school Mr. Rahul Aggarwal. |
Our school participated in a 3 day interaction programme called “PRATIBIMB-2009” organized by GOONJ, an NGO and received the third prize amongst 18 schools in the “Seeking Solutions” event for presenting a mime on rural problems. The mime depicted how the unscientific beliefs of illiterate rural people in “quacks” & “ojhas” can ruin them.
The school received a trophy and a certificate for their presentation. |
| S.M.S Faculty contributed items such as stationary, woollens, soft toys in large bulk for the underprivileged children this year as well. It is a regular feature of the school which involves the students from all the classes right from class I to class XII making them realize their moral responsibility towards the underprivileged children and thus sensitizing values of consideration and humanity amongst young hearts. |
 Under the aegis of Help Age India, the students of our school contributed Rs. 67,738/- in order to support the senior citizens of our country.
This year when Bihar was devastated by floods, the children of our school contributed 1050 Kgs. of rice and 50 Kgs. of pulses to help the people in their hour of crisis.
The students of SMS contributed an amount of Rs. 67,738 towards the “School Education Cum Fund Raising Programme” under the aegis of Helpage India given by our Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal to Manjeet Singh, Sr. Manager of Helpage India. |

Diwali Mela’s are organized by the NGO’s like Prerna NIketan and Muskan in our school on regular basis.
The students are encouraged to buy their products as the proceeds from them go for a noble cause. |
