ST. MARK'S SENIOR SECONDARY PUBLIC SCHOOL JANAK PURI, NEW DELHI - 58 In the days when Janak Puri was taking shape and very few facilities were available, farsighted, Mr. T. P. AGGARWAL visualised the need of an educational institution in this area. It was in January, 1975 that a modest beginning was made and with good administration and healthy staff the school grew at a rapid pace. The expansion in the enrolment of the students, enlargement of the school building and upgradation from Secondary to Senior Secondary was very satisfying. Today, it has nearly 3000 students on the roll with nearly 150 staff members.

GVC Project The Global Virtual Classroom (GVC) is a collection of online educational activities and resources. It aims to complement the efforts of governments and educators around the world to integrate technology into their classrooms and curricula and to link their schools to the Internet in educationally productive ways. The GVC vision is to empower, enable and connect students around the world using Internet technology. It provides students with a stimulating, positive and enjoyable environment along with the opportunity to develop skills that are essential in the 21st century: cross-cultural communication, collaboration through teamwork, information technology and website design. The major projects of the GVC are the annual Contest and the Clubhouse Program. During the Contest, teams from schools from around the world compete in an effort to build websites that best meet contest objectives. Each team is made up of students from schools in different countries working together. The websites are judged on the quality of their content and presentation, effective collaboration, and a focus on helping others through knowledge or activities. The contest runs from October through April, with winners announced and cash prizes awarded in May.   GVC Team for the year 2012 This is the second year of participation of our school in this contest at Secondary Level. Our school team comprising of 17 students from classes IX-XI along with the students of USA and CROATIA (our other two team members) created a website on the topic ‘GLOCAL CULTURAL HERITAGE’. Throughout the contest the students from all the three countries worked in close coordination to build a website that best meet the contest objectives.
