As a part of the collaborative project between St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Janakpuri and St. George’s School, Edinburgh, an introductory session was conducted with the students of Classes VI-VIII on 22 November 2023. The teacher incharges were, Ms. Monica Uppal and Ms. Rosy. This project highlights the importance of SDG-3, 'Good Health and Well Being' and will be carried out from December 2023 till February 2024.
Global Virtual Classroom 2022-23

Global Virtual Classroom is an online collaborative learning project that fosters creativity and cross cultural understanding. Sponsored by GSBI, the GVC program provides a unique opportunity to primary and secondary school students from different countries to work with and learn from each other. They collaboratively design a website on a topic of their choice. A panel of judges evaluates the final work and determines the winners.

It is a matter of great pride that the Secondary Team of our school won the Grand Award in GVC 2023. The team comprising of 30 students from Classes IX and XI worked enthusiastically under the able guidance of their teacher coordinators Ms. Monika Uppal and Ms. Akanksha Bisht. The students of our school worked with the students of Daija Senior High School, Taichung, Taiwan and SLEV Private High School, Istanbul, Turkey to create a website on the theme ‘The Unfiltered Vision; #Remove the Disguise’. The website beautifully depicts the efforts to combat global matters such as poverty, gender bias, taboo against disability, Intolerance, climate change and cyber bullying. It was a collective effort by the students of all three schools showing their responsibility towards the society to promote an inclusive view of the world. The students and the teacher incharges were felicitated by our Principal Ma’am, Ms. Inderpreet Kaur Ahluwalia.

Our GVC Secondary Team, which won the Grand Award, working in collaboration with the students of Darbari Lal DAV Model School, Pitampura, New Delhi, to build a website on the theme ‘Evolution of Mankind’ and our GVC Primary Team, which won the Second Prize, in collaboration with Walton Middle School, Charlottesville, Virginia and Toana Middle School, Toana, Virginia, in the Web-designing Contest for their website ‘Activism: Through the World's Eyes', being congratulated and appreciated by our Chairman Sir, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal and our Principal Ms. Inderpreet Kaur Ahluwalia.

Glen Confluence'21, an International Annual Inter-School Fest, was organized by Glendale Academy International, Hyderabad, in which our school students got a chance to showcase their talent.

Vastavi Gupta (XI B), Daksh Khuttan (XI C), Vansh Arora (XI C), Manamrit Singh (XI C), Avneet Kaur (XI C), Saksham Chhabra (XI C) and Anish Mathur (XI C) bagged the Second Prize in the event 'Science on Stage', in which they prepared a skit to explain the topic Gravitation.

Saina Bajaj and Tanishk Mehrotra of XI E bagged the Second Prize in ADZAP event, where the students created a video as well as a print advertisement of an innovative product.

Both the teams have been rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 3000 each.
Ayush Utsav of Class VIII-A has bagged the First Position by scoring cent percent in GLOBAL VIRTUAL MATHEMATICS CHALLENGE - (December 2021)

Ayush Utsav of Class VIII-A, who participated in GLOBAL VIRTUAL MATHEMATICS CHALLENGE-2021, an International extension of 25th Shishir Memorial Inter School Mathegenius, has bagged the First Position by scoring cent percent in the competition based on Mathematics Challenge.

The GVC Primary Team of our school - in collaboration with JCD STEM Partnership School, Aurora Illionois and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Jhajjar, India - won the Second Prize, the SILVER AWARD in the Global Virtual Classroom Web-Designing Contest 2020-21; a contest supported and sponsored by Give Something Back International (GSBI), Dallas, USA.

The students of our Primary wing set up an outstanding website on the theme HUMANS AND SPACE. The website focused on exploring the universe. The students exhibited great creativity and shared fascinating information while designing the same.

All the participants and the Teacher Coordinators Ms. Ritu Khurana and Ms. Versha Gupta were awarded with a Certificate and a Letter of Appreciation.

The GVC Secondary Team of our school, this year, won the GRAND AWARD working in collaboration with Etkin College,Turkey and Tajrobawi Girls School, Afghanistan to build a website on the theme ‘Driving Through the Universe’. This contest is supported and sponsored by Give Something Back International (GSBI), Dallas, USA.

The website designed by the students gives an insight of the origin and evolution of the Universe, Future of the Universe, some interesting facts about our Universe, the uniqueness of the Earth and the need to conserve our Mother Earth. It also makes us ponder on how the year 2020 has been unusual and unforeseen in the entire human history, and why we, as people, are grateful, hopeful and thankful of this period too. Last, but not the least, the students have beautifully portrayed the concept of Unity in Diversity, irrespective of any caste, creed, colour, religion and nationality.

The major forte of the site was the extensive use of technology, as students created many videos, original colourful graphics, artwork, skilfully using animations and multimedia to share very interesting, in-depth information.

All the participants and the teacher coordinator Ms. Monika Uppal were awarded with a Gold Award Certificate.

Little Champs : International Inter School Solo Dance Competition 2021 - (May 2021)
To watch us dance is to hear our hearts speak...

International Inter School Solo Dance Competition 2021, organized by ACT UNIVERSAL on Zoom was hosted keeping in mind its motto 'Art Connects'. 31 schools across UAE and India participated in this competition.

We are delighted to share with you all that Namrata Maity of Class IV-C won the Consolation Prize under the Junior Category for Kerala Folk Dance.

Dipali Sharma of VII-F participated in the Demic Star Session 10.0 (MUN) conducted on 13 March, 2021. Her committee was AIPPM (The All-India Political Parties Meet) where she represented the portfolio of Gautam Gambhir. She, along with other delegates, deliberated with great zeal of enthusiasm on the agenda “Discussion on India and it’s relation with the neighbouring countries”.

Her views were appreciated and she bagged the High Commendation Award.

The 2020 iLINC Carnival, initiated by APEC Cyber Academy, an international networked collaborative learning platform with support from Ministry of Education of Taiwan, witnessed the participation of 658 students and 98 teams worldwide from 9 countries in different projects. It is a matter of great pride for our school that our team ‘Best of the Best’ won the GOLD AWARD and the team ‘St. Markians’ won the SILVER AWARD in the Project ‘Insect’, comprising of 6 students each from class VI and VII, under the guidance of Ms. Monika Uppal and Ms. Rosy Marwah. Both the teacher coordinators were rewarded with a stipend of 600$ each and the students with Certificate of Achievement.

The Insect Project was specifically related to the 15th goal of the Sustainable Development Goals in the United Nations on protecting and preserving our Ecosystem. This project enabled students to understand how this 15th goal leads to the protection of many insect species which forms a crucial part of our ecosystem.

The students performed eight interesting tasks under this project wherein they observed different kinds of insects that they see around in their community, researched about any one insect and finally made a bug device and an eco-house for the researched insect. Class VI students researched about ‘American Cockroach’ and made an insect trap for the same whereas class VII students researched about Garden Ants and made an Eco House for the ants.

The students also had an online community fair to display and explain their device in front of students, parents and judges and also made a digital story of the entire journey of this project. Task 8 of the project gave the students an opportunity to have an interactive session with the students of other schools – Taiwan, Japan, China and Ukraine.

The School Enterprise Challenge is a global business start-up Awards Programme run by the educational charity Teach A Man To Fish. The competition supports teachers and students to work together to plan and launch a profitable business which also creates a positive social and environmental impact.

The 27 young enthusiastic entrepreneurs of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Janakpuri , New Delhi, India headed by the Principal Ms. Alka Kher of grade XI started a business venture ‘ECO THREADS’ in the year 2017-18 involving recycling of used clothes into beautiful cushion covers, table mats and fashionable college bags. The manufacturing was taken up by the parents of EWS (Economically Weaker Section) Category for which they were compensated out of the profits that the business generated. Eco Threads Venture of SMS, Janakpuri achieved Silver Level Award for planning, setting up and running an innovative school business in the School Enterprise Challenge 2017.

For the session 2018-19, Eco Threads Venture introduced a new product to their existing product line i.e. Customised T-Shirts. 27 more young entrepreneurs from class XI joined this year and the entire team of 54 students enthusiastically raised funds for their business throughreward based crowd funding. The first meet for the business started with the group discussions held by the subject teachers with the students making them understand the significance of this business venture in their commerce based subjects followed by division of the students into various departments, mentoring sessions by the previous year members and having interactive session with our potential customers as well as parents.

In today’s era, networking and connectivity plays a very integral role in spreading know how of any business and exchanging ideas for further growth. Keeping this in mind, the student heads along with the Lead Teachers Ms. Monika Uppal and Ms. Shubham Arora participated in the Skype Session with eight other schools on 13 July 2018. It was an engrossing and enriching experience for students as well as teachers.

Shirin Das Gupta and Vriti Matka, XI-A of Eco Threads Team were chosen as the September Blogging Mini-Competition winners by the School Enterprise Challenge team for writing down a blog on the topic 'Launching Our School Business'.

In the International Geo Fest 2017 held at Lucknow, EKANSH VERMA VIII-D and DARPAN SETHI VIII-D won CONSOLATION PRIZE in COLLAGE MAKING, an event for the Primary Team. Our students participated in a variety of events in Primary, Junior & Senior categories.

This exposure to such competition at an International platform gave them enriching experience besides some wonderful memories.

Odyssey - (2016)
Our school participated in Odyssey - 7th International English Literature Festival held in City Montessori School Lucknow. Eight students along with one teacher took part in many innovative and invigorating events. Our senior team, comprising of Srishty Saxena, XI-A; Shreya Jain, XI-B; Shreyanssh Jain, XI-C; and Medha Sharma, XI-D; bagged 2nd consolation in Drama. Srishty Saxena won 2nd consolation in Caricature Making. Medha Sharma got 3rd consolation in Debate. Sharing stage with 64 national and international team was an interesting experience for the students.
10th International Innovation Day - (2016)

Six students of our school participated in Geofest International 2015 held at Lucknow from 1 to 4 November 2015 at City Montessori School, Lucknow. Students participated in all the activities. Rohit Kumar & Aarushi Gangwani of our school bagged commendation certificates in the event Geotech.

Whole team bagged commendation certificates in the event ‘Voice & Vision’. Surbhi Sharma of our Junior Team reached the 3rd level of quizzing.

Students had a good exposure.

K.R. Mangalam World School organized Modal United Nations Conference which was inaugurated by Ms. Sanjana Manahtala (representative of UN Information Centre for India and Bhutan). KRMUN provided an excellent opportunity to empower students to find their voices, enrich their academic spirit and give them the tool they needed to excel and also enrich them with the opportunity to see the functioning of such a world body at large. The entire MUN body was divided into eight committee, three of which discussed two agendas.

The eight committees were as : European Council, G-20, UN Human Right Council, UN Security Council, A special meeting of the Prime Minister, Press Corps, Meeting of death Eaters (based on the Harry Potter Universe), A joint crisis committee (based on the 2nd world war). The students of our school displayed remarkable linquistic skills and confidence and discussed the various agendas given to them with great ability.

MUN is a student run simulation of the United Nations. Student delegates representing various UN member nations, address specific issues of current interest, through debate and negotiation. Students of our school participated in M.U.N. in various colleges of Delhi University and brought laurel to the school.

Vardha Kharbanda, XI A secured Special Mention Award in the respective events organized in each of the following colleges :

Its endeavor was to bring together brilliant young minds from all over the world to demonstrate their technical, logical and creative skills while collaborating and learning from each other's knowledge and experiences. Distinguished mathematicians and experts from all over the world were invited to conduct and judge the competition. It was an event in which 21 international schools & 51 National Schools participated in various mathematical events like solve-e-thon (relay round), Math Wiz (Individual Test), Math Quiz (BINGO), Mathmania (Team contest), Dexter's Math-a-torium (Mathematical Fair). Under the Junior Team Category in Math Wiz (Individual Contest) Shubham XA won Silver medal, Sehaj XD, Manan Shori XF bagged Bronze Medals & Aakash XIB bagged Bronze Medal in Senior Category. In the Mathmania (Team Contest) our Junior Team consisting of Shubham XA, Sehaj XD and Manan Shori XF bagged the Silver Medal.
World Scholar's Cup - (23 to 28 June 2014)

Srishti Verma, Darpan Tikiya & Manisha Arora of Class XII displayed their tremendous versatility and confirmed their placed in the World Scholar’s Cup global round held in Singapore between 23rd to 28th June 2014.

Darpan Tikiya was awarded the certificate of achievement for distinguished participation, Manisha Arora got certificate of achievement for Top 30% in individual writing and Shriti Verma was given the certificate of achievement for top 25% in challenge and history, top 50% in challenge and arts, Top 35% in challenge and literature and also gold medal for being schools top scorer. Overall our school got 293 rank among 800 teams worldwide winning 23588.10 points in different events. Congratulations ! to the winners.

To propragate the vision of Bharat Ratna H. E. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, City Montessori School, Lucknow, organised 8th International Innovation Day, dedicated to awakening & nurturing the spirit of innovation.

Six students of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Janak Puri, Delhi along with their teacher went to Lucknow for Geofest International from 8 to 11 November 2014. Students participated in a plethora of activities, like Geotalk, Geotech, Geotoon, Model Display (Junior & Senior) & Voice & Vision. The students participated in all the events with great enthusiasm and stood out in various competitions at different levels.

The team included Medha Sharma (VIII D), Karan Anand (VIII D), Vasu Sharma (VIII D), Nitish Chopra (XI C), Medha Khurana (XI B), and Meenakshi Sharma (XI C).

They emerged as winners in the following categories :
  • Meenakshi Sharma won II Prize in the event 'Geotalk' on the topic 'Can Bioplastics Replace Petrochemical Products'.
  • Nitish Chopra and Medha Khurana won Consolation prize in the event 'Geotech' on the topic 'Benefits Of Geographical Information System'.
  • The entire team bagged 'Commendation Certificates' in the event 'Voice and Vision'. The topic was 'Celebrating TheJoy Of Harvesting'.
  • The entire team was awarded a special prize of being the 'Most Versatile Team' amongst all 69 International and National teams.
Students competed against teams from across the country and even some from abroad. The experience and exposure gained by the students during the competition has been described as immense and invaluable.

1. Tanya Gambhir won II Prize in the event ‘GEO TALK’ on the topic “Laws related to the Environment should be fixed for all nations“.
2. Rishi Suri and Sonali Jain won the II Prize in the event ‘MODEL DISPLAY’ on the topic - “Urbanization and changing Landforms”.

5th International Innovation Day
5th International Innovation Day competition was organized by City Montessori School, Lucknow to commemorate the vision of Bharat Ratna, H. E. Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the 11th President of India, who has dedicated his life for the cause of science and scientific innovations. 17 entries from class VI - XII were sent from our school to participate in creative idea contest. Abhishek Sharma of class XII won 'special mention prize' in creative idea contest. The objective of the event is to create innovative ideas in the children at formative stage of life so that it becomes a part of habit and style of functioning to make them think independently.

St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Janak Puri won accolades in 'Eureka International', an event organized by City Montessori School, Lucknow. A ten member team comprising of students from classes V to VIII accompanied by Ms. Suman Chauhan had an opportunity to be a part of this event.

The theme for this year was 'Living Green : At Peace with Environment'. The students had a challenging and thrilling experience.

The primary team represented by Tanishka Prasad, Aman Sachdeva, Karthik M. Panikar, K. Pulkit & Medha Sharma won the II Prize in 'Page to Stage'.

The junior team comprising of Mahika Luthra, Gayatri Sonkar, Ishita Kapoor, Nitish Chopra & Rajat Joshi won the I Prize in 'Zero Carbonicity' wherein they prepared posters and presented their views on problems, solutions and suggestions above the shrinking water bodies.

An International English Literary Fest - a four day Odessey
An International English Literary Fest - a four day OdesseyThe City Montessori School, Lucknow organised a four day Odessey - An International English Literary Fest. Nine students of our school from Std. IX-XII participated in events like creative writing, debate, quiz, drama etc. Pawandeep Singh of X B bagged 'Second Prize' in Debate. He spoke with overwhelming authority on the topic "Career Orientation is the main objective of modern education".

The trip to this fest was invigorating and thought provoking. The main objective of the fest was to empower English as the world language and to propagate peace and world unity through the young ambassadors.
