Events Connections (Alumni) - St. Mark's Sr. Sec. School, Janak Puri, Delhi
A Great news to share amongst all of us – The alumni association of SMS - Janakpuri got registered in the name of ‘ CONNECTIONS ‘ with lot of hard work and efforts by the Principal - Ms. Rama Sethi & a team of ex- students : Dr. Ritu Bahl ( Secretary – Batch – 1988-89 ), Mr. Paamil Bhutani ( Treasurer – Batch – 1995), Capt. Harsh Suri ( Vice President - Batch - 2004-2005 ), Mr. Uday Grover (Joint Secretary – Batch – 1996-1997), Mr. Atin Gupta (Joint Treasurer-Batch – 1995-1996).

The First General Body Meeting (GBM) of ‘CONNECTIONS’ was held on 7th Feb. 2010, 10-12 a.m. in school premises about 150 ex-students were present. It was a time for reconnection – reunion & reminiscence. Director - Ms. Anjali Aggarwal addressed the ex- students on this occasion.

St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Janakpuri, maintains a harmonious association with all the graduating students of the school. With the objective of cherishing this enriching bond between the students and the institution, an alumni association 'CONNECTIONS', was founded on 7 February, 2010. The association has been an integral part of our school and has been actively working towards strengthening the spirit of camaraderie and teamwork.

St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Janakpuri, fondly maintains a harmonious association with all the graduated students of the school. With the objective of cherishing this accrescent bond between the students and the institution, an alumni association 'CONNECTIONS', was founded on 7 February, 2010. The association has been an inherent part of our school and has been organising meetings and events each year to relive the bygone era and build stronger connections.

We at St. Mark's, firmly believe that an 'Alumini Meet' is not just a reunion of its students, but a chance to reminisce with old friends, an opportunity to walk down the memory lane and bask in nostalgia. Here's wishing a very happy birthday to 'CONNECTIONS'.

Building strong connections is a pre-requisite for leading a meaningful life – they inspire the most amazing acts of love, generosity and humanity.

This is precisely why St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Janakpuri, maintains a wonderful association with all the graduating students of the school. In order to strengthen this everlasting bond between the students and the institution, an alumni association - ‘CONNECTIONS', was founded on 7 February a decade ago. The birthday of ‘Connections’ was celebrated virtually on Monday, 07 February 2022. The event started with the President of ‘Connections’, Ms. Inderpreet Kaur Ahluwalia, formally welcoming the august virtual gathering. Our school’s Chairman, Mr. T.P. Aggarwal, extended his best wishes to everyone and shared his vision for further growth of the institution. Ms. Anjali Aggarwal, the school’s Director, also gave her best wishes to the alumni and shared her happiness on seeing the family of ‘Connections’ grow stronger with each passing year. School’s Manager, Mr. Rahul Aggarwal, who happens to be a proud alumnus of the school expressed his ideas on how he intends to further strengthen the bond between the alumni and the school.

The school alumni took a walk down the memory lane when they viewed the movie showcasing the history, journey and contribution of ‘Connections’. On the special occasion, the First President and ex-Principal, Ms. Rama Sethi, Second President and ex-Principal Ms. Alka Kher, Secretary of the Association, Dr. Ritu Bahl, and Treasurer of the Association, Mr. Paamil Bhutani, expressed their happiness on the 11th Birthday of ‘Connections’ and gave their best wishes to everyone.

Some of the many talented alumni of the school added more fervour and enthusiasm to the celebration by sharing videos that showcased their talent. Vanshika Garg (Class of 2018), Diksha Luthra (Class of 2018) and Mitali Arora (Class of 2019), enthralled the audience with their groovy dance moves. Sakshi Taneja (Class of 2018), Hiteshi Malhotra (Class of 2011), Ayushi Malhotra (Class of 2016) and Yukti Ahuja (Class of 2021) swayed everyone with their melodious renditions. The icing on the cake were the interesting and engaging games that were organised by the teachers of our school. The audience thoroughly enjoyed themselves guessing the 90s songs, solving the Rebus Puzzle as well as some brain teasing riddles.

The celebration reached a warm wrap up with the Vice-President of Connections, Capt. Harsh Suri, extending a vote of thanks to everyone. It was indeed an evening to remember where the school alumni got together, had a delightful time and took leave with the promise to unite again next year.

It could be a cliché when we say, “When the going gets tough, the tough gets going”. But it may not be off the mark to observe that none of us were prepared for the situation that unfolded since March 2020 and only those who believed in the quote in letter and spirit had an appetite to adapt, adjust the sails swiftly to weather the storm.

On account of Teacher’s Day, the Medical Fraternity of our Alumni Association, Connections planned a webinar for all the staff members and alumni of the school on the topic ‘Covid 19: Awareness and Preparedness’.

The esteemed panelists were :

1) Dr. Sandhya Makhija (Batch: 1988-89), a graduate from Lady Harding Medical College and post graduate from Maulana Azad Medical College, presently a Vitreo Retinal Consultant, spoke on the impact of Covid on the eyes.

2) Dr. Priti Goyal (Batch: 1988-89), who completed her MBBS from University College of Medical Sciences and MD in Pathology from Government Medical College Amritsar, is a visiting Pathologist in University of Minnesota, USA and a staff Pathologist and Section Director at Lutheran Hospital, Indiana. She compared Covid waves in India with that of the US and its after effects.

3) Dr. Rajiv Sharma (Batch: 1991-92), an MBBS from IGMC Shimla and MD in Psychiatry from AIIMS, currently a leading Psychiatrist, spoke about managing stress during these unprecedented times.

The event was graced by the benign presence of our Principal ma’am Ms. Inderpreet Kaur Ahluwalia who appreciated the efforts of Team Connections who are always supporting our school’s endeavour to stay connected with the alumni and proposed the vote of thanks.

Strong alumni base is one of the formidable strengths for any elite institute. Thereby, the core committee acts as a platform to foster relations between the alumni and the institute and also to strengthen the bond between alumni and the current students.

With a view to reach out to more and more students, creating a platform for them to connect, a meeting of the core committee of Team Connections was held in school, duly presided over by our Principal Ms. Inderpreet Kaur Ahluwalia. The meeting was indeed a fruitful one, as all the members gave valuable inputs and promised to contribute to the school's vision of being recognised as a centre of excellence.

Our school holds immense pride in nurturing and rearing students who grow up to become responsible, independent and successful individuals. It was a matter of absolute delight to see young alumni of our school conduct highly engaging and productive workshops for the students of Classes VI - IX during the summer break.

In order to laud and appreciate their efforts, our Principal, Ms. Inderpreet Kaur Ahluwalia organised a special virtual meeting with all of them and personally thanked each one of them for investing their time and energy. She congratulated them for motivating and inspiring the young students to pursue their passion.

The alumni expressed their gratitude for the wonderful opportunity they got to conduct these workshops and shared their experiences as well as the memories of bygone days. They expressed how they missed their school life. The session concluded with the ex-students giving their inputs and suggestions regarding the measures that could be taken to ensure maximum participation of students in extracurricular activities which will help them hone their skills.

On 7 February 2021, the alumni association of St Mark’s School, Janakpuri “CONNECTIONS” virtually connected to celebrate its decade of existence.

The celebrations were graced with the benign presence of our respected Chairman - Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Director - Ms. Anjali Aggarwal and Manager - Mr. Rahul Aggarwal. They congratulated “Connections” on this momentous day and appreciated the efforts of the alumni of SMS to strengthen this association.

Also present were the Founder President of Connections Ms. Rama Sethi (ex Principal) Former President, Ms. Alka Kher (ex Principal), members of the Governing Body, teachers as well as members of the Connections family.

President Connections, Ms. Inderpreet Kaur Ahluwalia (Principal SMS JP), Vice President Capt. Harsh Suri, Secretary Dr. Ritu Bahl, Treasurer Mr. Paamil Bhutani, Jt. Treasurer Mr. Atin Gupta, Executive members Ms. Hardeep Kalra, Mr. Anish Mago and Dr. Puneet Gupta, extended their warm greetings to all on this special occasion.

Taking the august gathering down the memory lane, a presentation of the incredible journey of ‘Connections’ over the last decade was presented.

An organization’s alumni are the reflection of it’s past, representation of it’s present and a link to it’s future. Keeping this in mind, the members of the ‘Connections’ family pledged to continue working in solidarity, to carry the flag of St. Mark’s School higher.

LOYALTY, TRUTH AND HONOUR....

Dr. Ritu Bahl, Secretary of Team Connections, organised a virtual meeting of the members of the team. The President, our Principal Ms. Alka Kher, addressed the alumni and during a brainstorming session suggested a way in which present students of our institution St. Mark's School, Janakpuri, could be connected to our prestigious and well-settled alumni; many of whom are still in touch with their 'Science teacher' Ms. Kher.

The members who attended this Virtual Alumni Meet were Mr. Paamil Bhutani, Ms. Jasmine Gambhir, Mr. Anish Mago, Mr. Hardeep Singh, Mr. Atin Gupta, Ms. Anjali Tripathi, Mr. Amit Maini, Dr. Sandhya, Dr. Anjali Seth and Mr. Vikas Arora.

Revisiting the golden days, Ms. Kher reminded the gathering that it has been almost 45 years since the inception of the school and it has been growing manifold since then. Many of our students are leaving behind their footprints in whichever field they have chosen to be, shining brightly.

We plan to bring to you these Success Stories from time to time. We hope that our present students will surely be inspired and motivated from our alumni who will be telling us about the values inculcated during their childhood and adolescence by their families and their school, St. Marks, Janakpuri.

A million feelings, a thousand thoughts, a hundred memories & one school !!

The annual sports event was a perfect occasion to bond, sit together for chit chat and for reaching out to our oldies, both students and staff.

The alumni from various batches gathered in the school premises on 16th December 2017 to rewind, play games and refresh memories of their old school days.. their best time. It was a great honour to have our school Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal to grace the gathering. The students were glad to meet our Principal Mrs. Alka Kher and recited poems in the honour of their mentors and shared many anecdotes.

Many of the retired faculty members Mr. Ravi, Mrs. Asha Mahajan, Mrs. Rahi, Mrs. Saroj Sharma, Mrs. Rani Buddhiraja, Mrs. P. Kaur and Mrs. D'Silva too marked their presence on this awesome day.

It was absolutely wonderful to have been remembered thus by the old students and to be felicitated with love and respect.

Like branches of a tree, one leave make glow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one.

To take a walk down the corridor of a nostalgia, alumni meet : The President Ms. Rama Sethi & the secretary of Alumni Association Dr. (Ms.) Ritu Bahl welcomed the alumni and their family members in the school campus and appreciate their zeal to assemble here despite having their busy and packed schedule.

SMS, Connections - Career Counselling Session’ Alumni Counselling Session (November 2015) ’

To upgrade the emotional and career quotient of the students a career counseling session was held in school by school Aluminis for students of classes XI & XII.

The session focused on facing and accepting the life with its problems head on without any bickering and blame games.

Team Connections organized Alumni Meet on 21 December 2014 in an unconventional way. For the alumni it was a day back to their school 'as students'.

All the students along with Principal Ms. Rama Sethi, Vice Principal Ms. Alka Kher and Educational Supervisor Ms. Anupam Ganesh met at ground zero.

SMS, Connections Meet 2014' Connections Meet 2014 ’

The Annual Gala Get together of Connections (old students Association) was held on 29th March 2014 in the school premises. The Ex-students met their teachers and had heart to heart talk with them. But the highlight of the evening was the 'musical arms competition' which took place between the alumni students and the teachers.

Thus another evening came to an end reviving old school memories for the students.

SMS, Connections Meet 2013' Connections Meet 2013 ’

The annual gala get together of the Alumni association of St. Mark’s School, Janakpuri - ‘Connections’ was held on 23 March 2013 in the school premises. The evening turned out to be an extravaganza of fun & frolic with the live performances of the ex-students and staff. The food was excellent as was the décor.

Ms. Anjali Aggarwal the Director of the school addressed the gathering with an important announcement that the connections team has decided to give annual scholarship to deserving students on merit cum need basis from the current academic session 2013-14, which became all the more reason to celebrate.

The evening was made meaningful with the presence of Principal Ms. Rama Sethi, Vice Principal Ms. Alka Kher, teachers and ex-students.

The wonderful evening ended with the promise of meeting again.

The Old Markians Meet - 17 March 2012 - St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Janak Puri, Delhi' Connections- ‘The Old Markians Meet ’

The annual get together of ‘Connections’ was held on 17th March 2012 in school premises.

The evening turned out to be an extravaganza of fun and frolic followed by live music, tarot card reading, magic puppet show & tattoo art. Meeting old friends and teachers took everybody back to school days. It was followed by handing of prizes for best dressed couple, best dancing couple. The party came to an end with the promise of meeting again.
