DIWALI
CELEBRATIONS - 2009
The homecoming of Lord Rama to Ayodhya is celebrated as Deepawali every
year in India. This year also the school celebrated Diwali with a lot
of enthusiasm and fervour. The school was lit up with diyas and the
rangolis brought in the festive mood. The students of classes II and
III enacted the Sankshipta Ramayana in a marvelous way.
- INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT ST. MARK'S,
MEERA BAGH
The students of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh celebrated
Independence Day on 13 August 2009. Various activities were organized
on this occasion.
The Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal unfurled the National Flag which was
followed by a special speech by Ashima Gujral. The students of Class
IX and XI presented two patriotic songs. The Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal
and the Chairman conveyed to the students how to face the current challenge
of Swine Flu which has engulfed the nation, it is their responsibility
to confront the challenges and be dutiful citizens.
For students of classes I and II - Patriotic Song Competition was held,
while class III students had to draw and paint National Symbols. Students
of class IV had to write a paragraph on the topic - "What will
I do for my Nation" and class V had Quiz based on the topic - "India
my Country". The response of the students was praiseworthy. Prizes
were given to the winners of the respective activities.
- JANMASHTAMI
CELEBRATED AT ST. MARK'S MEERA BAGH
The spirit of
festival came alive when budding children of class I of St. Mark’s
Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, participated in Janmashtami celebrations
on 12 August 2009. A wonderful cultural programme was presented by the
tiny tots. The programme started with a small kirtan and dance. The
Chairman Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, the Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal, accompanied
by Vice Principal Ms. V. Wahi and Educational Supervisor Ms. R. Anand
performed the ‘puja’.
The birth of Lord Krishna was depicted in small scenes which was followed
by ‘Makhan Chor’ Dance, ‘Ras Lila’ and ‘Geeta
Updesh’. Children were beautifully dressed up as ‘Radhas’,
‘Krishnas’ and ‘Gokulvasis’. The Principal Ms.
Aggarwal addressed the students on this occasion.

MARK'S MEERA BAGH WELCOMES BASANT
 Basant
Panchami was celebrated with gusto and gaiety on 30 January 2009.
The students preseented colourful dances and swayed to the litting
music. A few students spoke about the significance of Basant Pachami.

and the Vice Principal
Ms. V. Wahi.
The celebration was indeed an interesting learning experience for
all the young children.

- CHRISTMAS
CELEBRATED
"There
is a shrill in the winter air but warmth has descended in our hearts.
Its Christmas time!” In our school, every year Christmas is celebrated
with full vigour. Continuing with the usual trend, this year also Christmas
was celebrated with gaiety and fanfare. The students of class I and
IV presented a wonderful play telling all the children the tale of Christmas.
All the assembled students enjoyed and tried to understand how Jesus,
the Saviour came into this world of mortals. The occasion was graced
by the presence of Dr. Zafi, Advisor to schools in Greece along-with
our Chairman, Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, the Principal, Ms. Anjali Aggarwal
and the Vice Principal, Ms. Veena Wahi. When the play ended, Santa Claus
descended on the stage and after singing a few lines of a carol, she
delivered her message to the students for putting up the wonderful programme
and wished everybody a merry Christmas. “Christmas should not
be celebrated once in a year but we should be loving and kind throughout
the year. The spirit of Christmas should reside in our hearts forever,”
she concluded. The evenings were marked with a ‘Christmas Party’
which continued for two days. It was an elaborate affair consisting
of a Puppet Show, Magic Show, Dance Competition and Passing the Parcel.
The icing on the cake was the arrival of Santa who personally gave a
gift to each student.

DIWALI
CELEBRATED
The students of class VIII celebrated Diwali in its full fervour on
24.10.2008. The celebrations began with the invocation of Lord Ganesha
that was presented in the form of Ganesh Vandana. It was followed
by a Nukkad Natak' which showed the irony of modern-day Diwali celebrations
and at the same time gave a strong message to celebrate a smoke-free
Diwali by saying 'No to crackers'. The programme culminated with 'Laxmi
Pujan' performed by our Principal, Ms. A. Aggarwal.

MARK'S MEERA BAGH CELEBRATES DUSSEHRA
Come
October and with it comes festivals. Durga Pooja was celebrated with
enthusiastic participation at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. School, Meera Bagh,
on 3 Oct. 2008. School's Reception was beautifully decorated with a
huge idol of Goddess Durga. The festivities began with a 'Maha
Aarti' '
that
was attended by the Vice Principal Ms.
V. Wahi and
the Educational Supervisors alongwith students and teachers. There was
a special assembly which showcased the significance of the Dussehra
celebrations throughout the country with elaborate depiction of durga
Puja. The cultural extravaganza consisted of the slaying of Mahishasura
by Durga, Dhunuchi dance and a traditional Bengali folk dance in praise
of the Goddess. The vice Principal addressed the students and encouraged
them to abide by the valued taught by these religious festivals.

Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated at St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School,
Meera Bagh, by the students of class III on 03.9.2008.

followed by a dance performance devoted to Lord Ganesha. In the end
Ganesh Visarjan was shown by the students chanting 'Ganpati
Bappa Moreya'
and dancing in colourful traditional costumes.

MARK'S MEERA BAGH CELEBRATES REPUBLIC DAY
Patriotic
spirit came alive when we celebrated Republic
Day with great zeal and fervour. The tricolour was hoisted
by Ms. A. Aggarwal, Principal, which was
followed by a speech of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, delivered by Arsh Marwaha,
a student of class IX. Group songs 'Mera Mulk
Mera Desh' and 'Yei Hai Naya Hindustan'
very aptly described the feelings of every Indian. The students dressed
up in colourful costumes of various states presented the Indian sentiment
of "Unity in diversity" very
beautifully. The celebrations came to a close with a very well choreographed
number based on the song "Bharat Humko Jaan
Se Pyara". Students dressed in orange and green dresses
with tricolors in their hands gave a very mesmerizing performance leaving
the students patriotically charged.
