Mr. T. P. Aggarwal, Chairman and
Ms. A. Aggarwal, Principal, St.
Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, take pride in the successful
initiation of a new global venture with Jattestenskolan, a reputed school
in Sweden.
A
four-member delegation comprising of Vice Principal Ms.
R. Sethi,
Ms.
G. Rajan,
Ms.
I. Walia
and Ms.
L. Srinivas
enjoyed true Swedish hospitality when they were state-guests at
Grums - an enchanting community near Karlstad, in the neighborhood of the
birth place of Alfred
Nobel,
from 15 May 2008 to 29 May 2008. The aim of the visit, initiated by Ms.
G. Rajan
and Mr. Magnus Johannson, Head of School Improvement, was to promote peace,
co-existence of man and nature and mutual exchange of teaching methodology. The
hosts saw that the visitors were escorted and looked after by different activity
groups of the school on a daily basis. Freedom of expression, stress- free
atmosphere and punctuality are some of the features that stood out in
Jattestenskolan School as well as in Ebba
Petterson School
of Gothenburg, Sweden. This visit has resulted in various online projects
involving students of both countries. Student exchange is in the offing too.
ST. MARK'S MEERA BAGH STEP INTO A NEW LANE
With
the best wishes of the Chairman Mr. T.P. Aggarwal and Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal,
the st udents of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, stepped into a new lane
altogether. As part of their Global Projects, they triggered off their campaign
in Global Virtual Classroom contest. Around 24 students from classes VII, VIII
& IX are teamed with schools from Italy and the US and are all set to design
a website on a topic chosen by the three schools together. Both the Chairman
and the Principal not only wished them luck but also were as enthusiastic as

MARK'S MEERA BAGH GOES GLOBAL
Student
of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, were part of a global project
'Hands Around the World'.
Students of classes XI & XII made colorful hand prints and wrote information
about themselves, their school, city and their country. Some even wrote about the
Indian culture, the national symbols and festivals. Around 125 handprints were
sent to the US and in exchange our school too received around 70
handprints with information from around the world. It was indeed a novel way to
cultural exchange.

MARK'S MEERA BAGH HOSTS TEACHERS FROM SWEDEN
As
part of International Cultural Exchange programme a team of 4
teachers and the Principal of Ebba
Petterson
School, Gothenberg, Sweden were at St. Mark's School,
Meera Bagh for a 15 day visit. The teachers belonging to the faculty
of Language, Art, Maths & Social Science interacted with the
teachers of their faculty here at St Mark's. A long team collaboration
was discussed with students of both the schools doing online projects
which would not only help them in learning better but would also help
them in knowing each other well. The students would use technology to
the fullest as they would interact through video conferencing,
chatting and of course through electronic mail.
It was indeed an honour to host the team from Sweden as teachers of St
Mark's also learnt a lot about them, their country and last but not
the least their culture. This exchange programme is here to stay.
We hope to interact with many more schools in other parts of the world. For
the past one year our students have been contributing regularly to various
websites. One of such website is www.webnews.textalk.com.

St. Mark's, they took part in the Diwali pooja and even witnessed a play, the traditional Diwali story about Lord Rama and Sita Their trip was made
further memorable as the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal arranged for their visits to very special schools of students with significant physical and mental disabilities. If their visit was memorable for them, their stay at St.Mark's was equally memorable for St.Markians as they too learnt that the world is truly a 'Global Community'.

OUR SCHOOL GOES INTERNATIONAL
Our school had an
international guest from
Sweden-Elvis-the cute little
moose and the school welcomed him with open arms. AS a part of an international
project, Elvis a little moose, had been sent by the students of Ebba Petterson
School, Gothenburg, Sweden. The moose which came as a symbol of love and
friendship, was not only given a warm welcome by the school but was also taken
around the city by the students. Another international feather in the cap of
St.Mark's is that the paintings made by 20 of its students have been selected to
be displayed in a Global Art Exhibition to be held in Southern Oregon, U.S.A.
These paintings would be put up for sale and proceeds would go to Mother of
Peace orphanage in Mutoko, Zimbabwe. Our school also holds the distinction of
being host to the paintings sent by students from the US. These paintings were
displayed in the school premises.
