  • A HINDI WORKSHOP (November 2009)

    An Our School and Saraswati House Publications, in joint collaboration organized a Hindi Workshop on 21 November 2009 in the school premises. Many Hindi Teachers from various schools of West Delhi participated in the Seminar. This workshop was an attempt to popularize Hindi as a launguage among the students and respect the same as a National language.
  • ST. MARK’S TEACHERS ATTENDS WORKSHOP ON HANDLING MEDICAL EMERGENCIES IN SCHOOL
    A workshop was organized by Forum of Public Schools (Regd.) on 19 August 2009 at Sachdeva Public School, Pitampura. Resource team from Expression India comprising of renowned doctors headed by Dr. Jitender Nagpal, conducted the workshop on 'Handling Medical Emergencies in School'. Principals and Teachers from various schools attended this workshop. Mr. Vikas, Ms. Preeti, Ms. Sharmistha and Ms. Nishu, teachers of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, attended the workshop and found it to be very illuminating and helpful.


  • ST. MARK’S TEACHER ATTENDS WORKSHOP ON MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
    A workshop on Medical Emergencies was conducted at St. Mark’s Sr. Sec Public School, Meera Bagh, on 6th and 7th July 2009 for teachers of classes I to VI and VII to XII respectively. The workshop which was conducted by Mr. Ojas S. Walia from St. John Ambulence Brigade, emphasised on students fainting during assembly/sports period, lab accidents , fire and first aid. The workshop was extremely enlightening and was appreciated by all.


  • ST. Marks Teachers attend Workshop on PHOTO FRAME MAKING
    HT PACE organized a workshop on 'Photo Frame Making' on 15 April 2009 a St. Marks Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh for Classes IV & V. The resource person was Ms. Japjee who is also the Co-ordinator HT Pace. She demonstrated the making of the photo frame. The students were enthusiastic to learn and many of them made it at home and brought to school the next day.

  • ST. Marks Teachers attend Workshop on STORY TELLING
    A Story Telling Workshop was held on 10 April 2009 at St. Marks Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh. It was organized by Ratna Sagar Pvt. Ltd. The resource person was Ms. Deepa Aggarwal, who authored a number of books for children. She has about forty books in English and Hindi to her credit. Her series of picture books 'Little Friends' with titles like 'Lippo goes to the Park' and 'Squiggy goes to school' published by Frank Educational Aids is extremely popular with beginner readers. Her recent titles include 'Caravan to Tibet', 'Folktales from Uttarakhand' and 'The Mango Birds'.

    She spoke about various styles of story telling belonging to different countries and also from the different states of our country. To name a few : Kamishibai - a Japanese way of storytelling and Rajasthani Phad which has a screen with full story and the relevant pictures are highlighted. It was quite an interactive and interesting workshop and concluded with the performance by the teachers of Class I to V with a story from their respective classes. Ms. Deepa Aggarwal was very impressed with the way the teachers enacted out the stories with limited time and limited aids. However it was the Principal of the school, Ms. A. Aggarwal who stole the show by enacting out the famous story 'Little Red Riding Hood'.


  • ROAD SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAMME
    Ms. P. Sauja and Ms. S. Bagga, our teachers, attended a workshop on road safety programme at St. Columbia School, Vikaspuri. The workshop, which was conducted by M/s Toyota, was well informative ad teachers from various schools shared their views and information on the topic. Students of classes I to V were shown animated movie based on traffic rules.


  • TEACHERS ATTEND 'URBAN SANITATION' WORKSHOP
    Ms. M. Pathak and Ms. S. Kaur, attended a workshop on 'Urban Sanitation' organized jointly by CBSE, Urban Development Authority and GTZ. It was a conclave of teachers and principals from all across India. Participants were asked to sensitize the children regarding the basic needs of sanitation. Various presentations related to urban sanitation were given by eminent people. Schools were also briefed about better environment and energy conservation. Many notes were exchanged amongst schools and the matters discussed would be implemented soon.

  • TEACHERS ATTEND COMMERCE WORKSHOP
    CTA - Commerce Teachers Association organized a workshop on 22.11.2008 for Commerce & Accountancy teachers. It was attended by Ms. Harinder Kaur and Ms. Mansi Verma. The CBSE syllabus, application based questions, how to improve the performance of weak students in Business. Studies and 'HOTS' related problems were discussed. It was very enlightening indeed.

  • English Teachers attend Workshop
    Ms. A. Mehta and Ms. S. Arora, attended a workshop conducted by Scholastic India Ltd. at India Habitat Centre on 27.11.2008. Ms. Preminda Langer, currently teaching at Sri Ram School, who conducted this workshop emphasized on various skills to be implemented for effective teaching of English. The workshop was interactive, interesting and a good learning experience.

  • WORKSHOP ON MEMORY ENHANCEMENT
    Pearson Longman had sponsored "Know and Grow with Derek" session on 19.11.2008 at WWF India Auditorium Teachers from 50 schools of Delhi participated in this session. Ms. A Gupta, Educational Supervisor of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, attended this session and shared a few insights on how to make classroom teaching more interactive.

  • REPORT - SOCIAL SCIENCE WORKSHOP
    Social Science Workshop organized under the aegis of 'Forum of Pubic Schools' at Nav Bharti Public School was attended by Ms. Guninder, Ms. Anu Arora and Ms. Sapna Malik on 9th August, 2008, Saturday. Subject experts from C.B.S.E. Ms. S.S. Rastogi and Mr. Jagdish Bharti highlighted changes in C.B.S.E. Curriculum in Social Science for the session 2008-2009. This workshop provided an excellent opportunity to get an insight into changes brought about in the Curriculum as well as formulation of examination papers for the session (2008-2009).

  • ENGLISH TEACHERS OF ST. MARK'S MEERA BAGH ATTEND WORKSHOP
    A Workshop was organized by the Oxford University Press on 30.8.2008, which was attended by Ms. A. Taneja, Ms. M. Ghosh and Ms. H. Kaur, Teachers of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, Ms. Shefali Ray, an ELT  Consultant, conducted the workshop, which covered key aspects of teaching  language skills, grammar, vocabulary, poetry and basic issues  of testing and evaluation. It was a great learning experience for all the participants.

  • ST. MARK'S TEACHERS ATTEND ART WORKSHOP
    Camlin conducted workshop for Art teachers and art enthusiasts on 15.7.2008. Teachers of  St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, Ms. S. Pathela, Mr. D. Kalra and Ms. R. Parashar participated in this workshop, which introduced them to a new range of various art related products.

  • TWT - THEATRE WORKSHOP
    The Forum of Public Schools organized a two day  workshop, Theatre Workshop in progress for teacherson the 9 and 10 May 2008. Its aim was to enlighten the teachers about theatre and how it can be moving, challenging, beautiful and honest. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Kuljeet Singh, Creative Director of 'Atelier' designing workshops on Creative Teaching and Creative Learning, incorporating Drama and Theatre in education techniques. TWT was an eight hour intensive action  packed schedule where the teachers could explore their ability to help children to use their physical, vital and mental faculties to their full potential and make learning an enjoyable and ongoing process. It was an interesting , educational and informative session. The teachers who attended were Deepti Chopra and Anjali Sharma.






  • NUANCES of DIRECTION
    A workshop was held for teachers from 22 July to 24 July that was focused at creating awareness about the nuances of theatre and direction and to successfully direct a play when working with students. It was conducted by the Principal Ms. A. Aggarwal and Ms. Ritika Anand. It was indeed a fruitful and enlightening experience.

  • TEACHER ATTENDS TRAINING PROGRAMME
    Mr. Dhanveer Kharola,
    our  Physical Education Teacher, participated in a training programme 'Premier Skills' conducted by British Council of India, Premier League, AIFF ad ESPN. The course was held at D.P.S., R.K. Puram, from 4th to 9th Feb. 2008. The programme was meant to train young coaches to promote  Football. 38 coaches from Delhi and NCR who participated in this course were trained by four coaches from England. They were trained about the various techniques of this game in a simplified manner and topics like diet, nutrition, injury and prevention, medicines etc. were also discussed.
        

  • TEACHERS ATTEND WORKSHOP
    Center of Studies in Economic and Social Reconstruction organized a National Seminar on 'Concerns and Crisis in Education' which was attended by Ms. V. Wahi, Ms. R. Sethi, Ms. A. Gupta and Ms. R. Anand at India  International Centre, on 2.2.2008. After the inaugural address by Sh. S.C. Tripathi, many eminent educationists like Sh. K. M. Acharya, Special Secretary, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, Sh. Arun Kumar Rath, Secretary, School Education and Literacy, Govt. of India, Prof. J. S. Rajput, Former Director of NCERT, Sh. S. L. Jain, Chairman, National Progressive School Conference and  Sh. Hari Dang, President, the Third World Education Centre Society, addressed the problems faced by society due to the current education system. The focus of the speakers was human resource development through education and the main issues which arose from this were access, equity and quality of education. Quoting the world leaders, it was stressed that 'Education is Energy, and Education is Empowerment'. Apart from moral education, peace education was also suggested to be a part of the curriculum.

    The session was concluded by quoting Rabindranath Tagore, who once said,
    'I do not teach, I create a learning environment'.
        

  • TEACHERS ATTEND MATHS & SCIENCE WORKSHOP
    Ms. R. Mathur and Ms. N. Punj,
    teachers of St. Mark's Sr. Sec. Public School, Meera Bagh, attended a seminar organized by SRF Foundation, alongwith Ministry of HRD on 'National Conference on Science and Maths Education in Secondary Schools' at India Habitat Centre from 30.6.2008 to 02.7.2008.
      

    It was inaugurated by the former President of India Hon'ble  Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He said that 'we need to make teaching and research more attractive for talented teachers to pursue it as a lifetime profession.' It was also addressed by eminent personalities of India like Space Scientist Prof. K. Kasturiranga, Prof. M. Mukhopadhyaya, Dr. Sujatha Ramdorai and many others. The purpose of the seminar was "Effective teaching of Mathematics and Science in school", so that the children are encouraged to take up Science and Maths for higher education and research.      

  • CAREER COUNSELLING WORKSHOP
    Ms. M. Mehta
    , Guidance Counsellor, participated in a Training Programme organized by Eduexcel in collaboration with Pearl School business on 24.4.2008 at India International Centre. The speakers were Dr. V.S. Ravindran, Counselling Psychologist and Trainer, Dr. Ashutosh Bhupatkar, Prof. Management and Organizational Studies, PSB, Dr. I. M. Pandey, Prof. IIM, Chairman of Academic Council, PSB and Prof. Ashok Sanghi, Management Consultant. The programme focused on the changing trends in education, different types of career options and also covered the topic 'Entrepreneurship -A novel concept in Career Counselling'.
