The founder Chairman of the school Mr. T. P. Aggarwal has been working in the field of education since 1975. He has been awarded the Dr. Radhakrishnan Memorial National Teachers Award.

Age group of 12-16 years is termed as adolescence. This is highly impressionable and crucial age as there are physical and emotional changes taking place in a child. Child gets influenced by his social environment and starts reacting to it. Peer group plays a very important role at this stage. As peer group is of the same age, therefore lot of confusion comes in the mind of a child. He is not able to decide what is right and wrong and responds the way his peer group is responding. Sometimes under peer pressure he takes wrong decisions. Keeping all these points in mind St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School conducted a workshop on how to handle “peer pressure” Resource person Ms. Ira Sehgal conducted the workshop of 45 minutes and discussed about harms and good effects of peer group. Students openly shared their ideas and feelings and found answer to their queries. She also suggested ways about how to draw a line so that peer group does not influence a child in wrong way.
CBSE In-Service Teacher Training Workshop - (9 May 2013)

Co-scholastic assessment is an integral part of CCE system. Keeping this point in mind Ms. Monika Sehgal and Ms. Shikha of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School Meera Bagh attended one day capacity building program on lifeskill, attitudes and values. The program was conducted by ‘Prabhaav’. Various experimental methods were used for training teachers to correctly assess students on various life skills. Session included group discussion, activities and presentations. Handbooks and assessments sheets were also given to facilitate learning. After the workshop teachers got awareness about different tools and techniques to assess various life skills. Workshop was indeed an eye opener for teachers.

HT PACE organised a Tie n Dye workshop in St. Marks Girls Sr. Sec. School on 3 May 2013 for few students of Classes VIII - IX. The students learnt the process of tying and dyeing a piece of cotton cloth using bright colours. They made beautiful designs and participated enthusiastically in the workshop.

SMS, Girls School - Paper Bag Making Workshop : Click to EnlargeNow a days people have started taking interest in favour of nature, they have started taking initiative to make our environment clean.

One such step towards a clean environment is the use of paper bags. HT PACE organised a Paper Bag Making Workshop for the students of class VI on 2 May 2013.

The students learnt to make paper bags using the bright and colourful handmade sheets. They also took a pledge to use paper bags and save our mother earth from the hazards of polybags.

School, Meera Bagh, New Delhi on 1st May, 2013. SMS, Girls School - Ceramic Pot Decoration Workshop : Click to EnlargeThe students enthusiastically participated in the workshop as they were skilfully guided by the HT Pace Coordinator, as how to master the art of pot decoration.

They have brought ceramic pot of various shapes & sizes which they painted in beautiful colours. Once the colour had dried up beautiful pattern were skilfully crafted with the help of Shilpkar Clay. These motives all the more added to the beauty of these pots. Further, the students were taught to paint the pots which all the more enhance the aura of these pots.

As the workshop catered to the interest of students they very soon mastered the innovative idea and created wonderful designs on their pots. In the scorching heat the workshop was like a fresh whiff of breather from the mundane daily schedule. Looking forward to more such workshops students carried on creating their masterpiece to master this new learnt forte.

Imagination is not a legacy but is cultivated with a harvest of ideas and inspiration. To add a spark to the innovation of our students a craft workshop was organised in St. Marks Girls Sr. Sec. School on 30 April 2013 for class IV students by HT PACE. Students made beautiful and colourful baskets using ice cream cups, shilpkar, glitters, paints, etc. They enjoyed the activity thoroughly.
Workshop on Study Skills - (7 December 2012)

To improve efficiency of students in studies school organised a ‘Study Skill’ workshop for students of Class XI. Students put in so many efforts these days still they do not achieve the desired result which definitely affects their confidence. ‘How to study’ is a skill which can be learnt. Ms. Ira Sehgal conducted a 40 minute workshop for students and taught them the techniques which can improve their efficiency and concentration. Students interacted with her and discussed about problems they face while preparing for exams.

Ms. Sehgal suggested that students should develop the habit of making their personal question bank and important points related to chapter should be compiled in one sheet. This data will definitely help students at the time of exam. Workshop was indeed very helpful as suggested techniques can improve their learning ability.
Establishing E-Waste Collection Mechanism in Schools and Colleges - (27 October 2012)
The students of our school attended an awareness workshop on ‘Establishing E-Waste Collection Mechanism in Schools and Colleges’ on 27 October 2012. E-Waste is recognized as a major challenge in the waste management policies of the Government of India. The rapid growth of the electronic industry coupled with high product obsolescence leads to the generation of large quantities of electronic waste. Therefore, there is an urgent need to bridge the gap between its generation and recycling which can be achieved by proper recycling and establishing a system of accountability in e-waste management. The students saw a short film on e-waste management and were well versed with e-waste rules, its implementation in Delhi and learned about the role of schools and action plan . This awareness workshop truly served its purpose and arose a feeling among the students to rise and play their part.
Vedic Maths Workshop - (2012)
'Vedic Mathematics' is the name given to the ancient system of mathematics, or, to be precise, a unique technique of calculations based on simple rules and principles, with which any mathematical problem - be it arithmetic, algebra, geometry or trigonometry - can be solved, orally.

For many students, the worst feared subject is Mathematics. Well to those, who find Mathematics a scare, they should go for Vedic Mathematics. Some of the most complicated problems can be solved without holding a pen and a paper. Stuff like square root, cube root and fifth root can be resolved with simple concepts.

On this note the school organized a Vedic Maths workshop for the students of class XI. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Rajesh Mishra from IMS Learning Resources Pvt. Ltd .The workshop highlighted the need of Vedic mathematics in competitive as well as curriculum examinations. The students learnt simple mathematical tricks for calculating the squares of numbers, product of two numbers, square root and cube root of the numbers. The students also learnt how to multiply two and three digit numbers within few seconds. A small test was also conducted to check the speed and accuracy of the students in basic calculation areas. . The students were also made aware of various options available after completing their class XII.

All in all it was a fun yet an informative workshop.
Workshop on Personality Development - (4 July 2012)
All the teachers of our school attended Personality Development workshop on 4th July 2012. Ms. Vandana Tandon from NIE shared her ideas about good personality. She gave number of tips to improve personality. She guided teachers about voice modulation, correct posture and anger management. Teachers were made to do number of activities. This workshop surely helped teachers to improve their personality as teachers personality plays an important role in shaping up a students personality.
A workshop on Adverse effects of kite flying - (2012)
SMS, Girls School - A workshop on Adverse effects of kite flying : Click to EnlargeA workshop on "*Adverse effects of kite flying*" was organised by *Angel eyes animals welfare foundation* at 9:30am in the school auditorium. It was conducted by the Eco Club of the school. Angel eyes are a non-government agency working in New Delhi to protect birds and animals.

It was attended by the students of classes VI to VIII.

Students actively participated in the interactive session. It proved a great milestone in arousing awareness among the students about the harmful effects of the kite flying.

NIE Workshop - Key Chain Making - (23 April 2012)

On 23 April 2012 Key Chain Making Workshop was organized by NIE for the students of Class V. Students used colourfull beads and bells to decorate the key chains. They exhibited their creativity and talent in arranging the multi-coloured beads and made startling key chains. All the students seemed ecstatic to learn a new thing.
E-Waste Workshop - (2012)
A workshop was conducted by Nokia in St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School that emphasised on E-Waste i.e. Electronic Waste. Ms. Vidhi, the host told the students about electronic waste and the technical ‘how and when’ it happens. The workshop enlightened the students about the fact that only 3% of Indians mobile users recycle their old mobiles. The students were made aware that India is also known as the ‘Dumping Land’ of all wastes. The students of St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School have made a little initiative to keep a Drop-in Box in the school where all the students would drop the E-Waste which would be recycled. It was indeed an amazing and inspiring experience for all the students.
Career Counselling Workshop - (2012)
St. Mark’s Girls Sr. Sec. School organized a workshop on Career Counselling presided over by the Resource person under NIE, Mr. Jitin Chawla. He guided the girls of class X to opt for the appropriate stream according to their aptitude, interest and future prospects. Students participated actively by asking questions and getting involved in group discussions. The workshop provided a clear idea to the students to decide the stream in XI according to their interests and realize their hidden capabilities.
Electronics Workshop (19 to 20 January 2012)

Students were introduced to the world of transistors and amplifiers. Students learnt while playing with electronic components.

Students actively participated in circuits making and discussions. Systematic and interesting methods made learning about electronic components a good fun.

Hardware kit and rich content helped the students to build projects on their own.

The Times of India organized a “Doll Making Workshop” for class VII students of St’ Marks Girls Sr. Sec. School. Ms. Silky Khanna, The Times of India Consultant taught students how to make exquisite dolls. They used pastel sheets, ice cream sticks and satin ribbons. They enthusiastically and deftly decorated the lovely dolls that they made. Their creativity and innovation was exhibited through their work.
Beed making Workshop - (13 July 2011)
SMS Girls School - Beed making Workshop : Click to EnlargeA Workshop to teach students of class IV to make beads was organized by NIE as a creative venture of the NIE programme undertaken by TOI. It was an interesting interaction between the resource person and the students.


They were taught to make colorful beads and lovely flowers out of clay. Daintly beads and buds were tied into trendy necklaces which are in vogue these days. Students took part in this workshop enthusiastically.


Little girls used their own imagination and creativity in making necklaces. Their aesthetic kastes were appreciated by al. It was a very beneficial learning experience for the students.
